Through December 15, 2012, we’re rewarding you even more for your worldwide travels. Fly with US and any other Star Alliance member carrier and you’ll get your miles plus earn up to 25,000 bonus miles. Travel on 3 partner carriers to get 2,500 bonus miles, 4 to get 5,000 and 5 to get 15,000. Fly on 6 or more and you’ll earn 25,000 miles. As a Dividend Miles member, you can fly to over 190 countries with Star Alliance network and earn miles on eligible flights.

Easier for those who are visiting Europe.

If you're going to the US or Caribbean doing an AA KUPP run you may be able to knock off a couple of sectors on airlines such as Copa (CM) United (UA) US Air (US) TACA (TA) Air Canada (AC) if positioning for KUPPs.

Closer to home airlines such as Air New Zealand (NZ) Thai Airways (TG) & All Nippon (NH) may be useful.

If going to NZ using your free VA Amex ticket you could do a cheap one way on NZ somewhere within NZ. It would be interesting to work out the cheapest one way sectors on some of these carriers.

Note that "instant upgrade"type data are readily available on US & US.:)

As Mel_Traveller pointed out on the other thread, its better value to just buy US DM points during a promotion (12.5 @ 100% bonus) than chasing flights. I did take a look at ex-KUL or ex-BKK flights as there are some BKK-KUL short hop flights (eg LH) but decided it wasn't worth it.
