Up to 35,000 Velocity points for switching to AGL Energy

I finally managed to get to the right person last week on Monday who knows what he's doing and got this sorted. It seems like the provisioning team actually just put me into the regular plan instead of the velocity offer, despite multiple agent i talked to earlier insisted I was on the Velocity plan.
I got a new email from AGL Sunday morning on a "new plan" and that email's header had the velocity logo on it, the points were in my account when I saw the email and checked velocity.

Email on plan change, with velocity logo and points posted straight away.

Original email on service activation - no points.

Now I just have to baby this again for the 10k points for gas transfer when it actually does happen.
So glad you posted this. I don't have the velocity icon on my account and have been waiting for points so I will ring them later today to follow up.

Please let us know if you still get the $150/200 credit from AGL. That's the only reason I'm still with them.
I did receive it on my first invoice - it was ex-GST so total credit on my bill was $182.82.

I have $75 left which are about to run out in the next fews days which should cover a bit over half of our comsumption until the 10-days cooling off period runs out.

Good timing!

I'm hanging around with AGL for 6months as jumped on the NBN 100mbs package for $59 combined with elec connection. That's good value in my books.
It jumps to I think $89 after 6m. So I jump too.

I signed up on April 29, got an email with the Velocity logo in the header, still no points on June 12.

I still haven't seen my points. Only got the final changeover emails a week ago though. Energy Australia really didn't want to let me go. But they didn't offer the points, they may have been able to match the price but it wasn't that big a discount anyway.

T&Cs do state it can take up to 45 days for points to transfer.

For me, my electricity is past 45 days and no points. When I rang they verified that I was indeed on the Velocity plan and told me to ring Velocity to chase the points. Velocity told me no it's AGL who need to process the points, so I rang back and was told to be patient another week! So I said I really didn't feel like going through all this again in a week and the agent wrote a note on my account but that was it.

Seeing as I have to wait a while longer for the gas to be credited (because it didn't get connected for three weeks after electricity) I'll just wait till that 45days is up before ringing again. Seriously though, such a pain to have to chase points.

so I rang back and was told to be patient another week!
Ah so you took the bait. The agent that initially took my call tried to palm me off by saying “it’s 45 business day” and I was having none of that. I insisted it says 45 days so it’s not business days and asked for an escalation and a case be opened to investigate the posting of points. The call then got transferred to the second agent who opened a case with the “external reconciliation” team which seems to have led to the issue being resolved.

Well that's kind of what happened to me too, except I think it was the step before the external reconciliation team because she said if her case didn't prompt the transfer of points when I rang back that it would then go to that higher level of escalation. Honestly, after three phone calls (during working hours!) I was a bit over it and figured I'd probably be doing the same for the gas anyway so I'd wait.

It’s now been more than 45 days since I switched to AGL, I’ve also received a bill (despite being on quarterly billing) and no points yet.

Called today and was fobbed off, told to call Velocity to confirm why the points haven’t been applied and then call AGL back to get them applied if Velocity can’t do it.

What a cluster.

So you got the same BS spiel i did. I still don't have the points but I'm waiting for my gas to be past 45 days before I bother ringing again.

Don't waste your time ringing Velocity - the issue lies with AGL so call them back.

Same issue here too. Well beyond the 45 days, first bill issued (monthly), and no points. Have called twice and they keep saying they'll "email their escalation team". Pretty poor effort. Will try again tomorrow.

Oddly, the 10k points for my gas dropped within like two weeks of being transferred despite it taking longer to transfer than the electricity.

I got onto Velocity via their chat function, the agent confirmed I should have received the points by now so they're going to escalate. Now to see how long this takes!

Bit of an update.

So I ended up ringing this morning. I was eventually put through to resolutions department. Apparently, my Velocity number didn't match perfectly on the electricity account, despite it working and matching on the gas account.

So they had to re-contract the electricity account this time (hopefully with an accurate number). Unfortunately it will take up to another 45 days for the points to appear, but they are confident this time it will work. As good will they gave me $20 credit for gas and another $150 sign-up bonus

Let's see how we go this time.

Well I'd happily have that error/delay in points dropping for an extra $170 credit.

You are the winner @JetSetJake if not for a little frustration.

The 10k for my gas connection finally dropped today - gas being a 90 day billing cycle took a little longer - so all 35k has now appeared and I am planning my next energy move.

Was thinking Momentum but those rates are a killer!

Absolutely. I'm definitely pretty happy with their good will offer. Although the new "sign-up" email hasn't come yet and my AGL accounts aren't showing the credits. I have to be patient I know, but just a tad hard to after the drama. 😝

Was considering going with this deal, however Alinta sent through an email advising of a drop (yes, you read correctly!) of 16% in my electricity rates to 31% below the reference rate. So long as there's no change to the reference rate then we'd be well ahead.

Unfortunately I've found most providers won't tell you what their advance changes are going to be unless you're with them already...would be interested to see if any of the AGL new sign ups (especially in SEQ) have had a similar advance price change advised?
