Up to 4x points on flights to NZ

I would guess it was targeted at those people who had booked flights ex New Zealand, done a few of them, so I received the email.

I would have thought Qantas could have checked the type of passport that was used that would be on file.

A bit of slack marketing there.

A few extra points I will pass.

It is roughly $600 for a return economy 'sale' fare from BNE to AKL. It can be had for $400. I always use the voucher method to avoid the booking fees.

Received the same offer also, which appears to have widely targeted as reported on the other FB forums.

I have yet to check out the fares, any good fares available at the moment ?

Yes, i've done only a brief scan of fares EX MEL and finding the fares not as cheap as previous promotions to NZ. I find this quite surprising considering QF will ramp up capacity In a few months time and will want some advance seat sales.

They want advanced seat sales. They've dangled a carrot to get sales. The fares aren't as cheap as usual. I don't find that surprising at all. Someone has to pay for the carrot. I bet fares will drop after this promo ends in a week.

That's exactly what I suspect. Fares dropped on domestic fares straight after the double status credit promotion a few months ago.

Interesting Observation I made today was that i checked out JQ fares ex MEL to NZ for December & January , JQ are even more expensive than QF.... They are having a laugh!

Looks like it has been targeted towards people that have flown to NZ recently. But perhaps Qantas has forgotten that there are reasons to visit NZ other than living there?

Fares to NZ do appear to be reasonable at the moment. E.g. MEL-AKL is $392 return for the dates I searched in early December.

See post #1...

Is that fare gone? Couldn't see that else I'm all down for a weekend trip to AKL.

There were some discounted fares early this week. Sale finished Tuesday midnight.

Unfortunately they do seem to be gone now. The lowest I'm now seeing is $468 return for MEL-AKL. MEL-CHC is $457 return.

VA and NZ had a sale and advertised it. It seems QF matched but I saw no advertising.

Not quite cheap enough to pull the trigger for me, but not too far off it either.

I didn't end up using this offer as I couldn't justify the J prices and status credits are more important to me than points. Have been watching each day and the 'business sale' has again appeared for late September 2016 where I was monitering. I generally find these are not promoted although this appears to be part of the global dream sale.
