Still, what some employers should do, and what is the reality, are not always aligned.....

Amen.

So I've looked into changing the BNE-SYD leg and I have two options:

BNE-SYD QF501 06:00-07:35
SYD-LAX QF107 10:15-06:45
LAX-IAD VA110 11:50-19:45

BNE-SYD QF509 08:15-09:50
SYD-LAX QF011 13:05-09:45
LAX-IAD VA110 11:50-19:45

So the question is, do I take option 1 which gives me 2.75 hours to transit at SYD, but leaves me on the 747 flight and with 5 hours to kill in LAX, or take option 2 which gives me 2.25 hours to transit at SYD, gets me on the A380 and cuts my stopover in LAX from 5 hours to 2 hours but ... is 2 hours enough to transit from TB to T3 in LAX?

Haha, those were the days!

Premium economy is the best it gets these days

Company credit card, what's that? They went out along with business class flights. Don't like my chances of getting the expense reimbursed either, but I'll see how I go.

Hmmm, i know this has come up a couple of times in the past, and not sure this is the right thread to bring it up (ie, and change the topic - altho i'm not 'tech head'(!) enuf to know how to do it any other way ... other than starting a fresh post, losing the quotes) ... but anyway, these types of comments, similar ones elsewhere in this thread, and other recent posts elsewhere in the forum, makes me wonder how much "business" travel these days is being booked into "premium" classes ... i know the corporate travel policy for one large company is "Y" - full stop - other than executive ... and that's Y+(!!). as surprising at that sounds at first, i seriously think it's (becoming) more the rule than the exception.

hmmm ~ :?:

(PS: not sure about 'corporate cards' though ... 'expense accounts', yes (definitely!), but i think corporate cards are becoming more common as a way of managing financial operations since procurement, reconciliation, etc is a lot more streamlined)

Im a little lucky as I made sure that I had business class written in my contract. If I am expected to travel frequently (I work for a global company that is based in South Africa) and get off on the other end and work (likewise coming home to the family) I want to be a little fresh. My boss actually struck a deal where he gave up a little part of his salary to always travel first

I'll also able to change airlines/route to make sure that the the seat is flat or slightly inclined. My last trip on an emirates A340 took me days to get over the coughpy business seat

I personally do not consider it as being lucky but as a reasonable part of doing business. Short haul, then Y is OK but longer then J is a necessity IMHO.
