Hi folks. I have a few questions regarding my trip next year, SYD-SFO-HNL-SYD all in Y. (Myself and Mrs Batesy)
1. What are our chances of a points upgrade to J on QF 73 on Saturday 15/03?
2. Best seats in economy on 744 to SFO? My wife is WP so can request exit rows. Have already been allocated 35G & 35F. It is a 64 Seat Y config 744 according to checkmytrip seatmaps. Seatguru has indicated that these are not good seats (bright red!!).
3. I hear that the QF lounge in HNL is fairly ordinary. Would we be better off using the JAL Sakura lounge for showers etc before the flight, is the lounge convenient to get to?
4. Is it worth the points to upgrade on the return flight to SYD as it is a 763 so no skybeds?

Thanks in advance, I always learn something when I consult the gurus!!

For (1) I am missing my crystal ball. It seems that typically SFO is less busy than LAX and if the points are coming from the WP account your odds are improved

(2) 46BC/JK or 58BC/JK are the ones I would be going for to get a nice exit seat

(3) the lounge when it is wearing its Qantas Club hat is quite reasonable and conveniant for the gate where the QF flight departs

(4) Well, it is a daytime flight and as a WP , you would be able to pre assign 35AB / JK which are quite pleasant seats. Whether you think it is worth 48k each to upgrade will depend on you to be honest. Personally I would save the 96,000 for another flight

Expertflyer is showing:

F9 A9 J9 C9 D9 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 R9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O9

For that flight out so all classes looking free. Seat map is pretty clear too (obviously in itself no guarantee). Definitley worth a punt, so get in there as soon as you can to be top of the list.

Wouldn't that be 46BC/HJ or 58BC/HJ? K is the window seat with the bulge in the door?
