Update on VA Lounges? [BNE/SYD/MEL/PER/OOL/ADL/CBR now open]

Did anyone see any comments re lounge access for Amex Plat cards as previously?
Assume it makes Virgin money and haven't seen any advice from AMEX to the contrary, so I assume access would continue as it always has bar the lounges Virgin are closing.

I certainly won’t fly Virgin Business again out of Alice Springs, Cairns or Darwin. Going to be busy in the Qantas lounges!

It's odd that it's closed on a Saturday but the 7am to 7pm hours make sense given the last flight departure right now is about 6:10pm (should be 7:20pm but the Adelaide flights have been cut).

One flight in the morning to Gladstone misses out but otherwise, all Sunday to Friday departures are covered by those hours. I guess they'll extend those hours after the 1st of December.

Has anyone been in the BNE lounge yet?

I'm flying up to CNS tomorrow and wonder if its worth arriving early and if they'll be serving anything for breakfast.

Coming up to December the busiest period month for air travel, and Virgin have ONE lounge open nationally. And even that is not 7 days. o_O

You really can't make this stuff up. Qantas must be rolling around laughing at the Free kicks they have been handed with this, and the instant noodles Biz Meals saga, no in flight WiFi, and all the other clueless nonsense.

All at prices way above Jetstar. They are living in Cloud Cuckoo land anyone in business with a free choice will choose them now, and the beaming CEO press releases cannot paper over the lack of any reason to fly Tiger#2. The leisure market is simply price driven and Tiger#2 has lost them months back.

I'd love to see how many Instant Gold Status matches QF are getting flooded with, based on their savvy offer this week. (That I predicted a month back would occur)

QF were technically insolvent in reality, and this might pull them back from the brink, but all due to clawing back a decent chunk of Virgin flyers, and it is all downhill for Ms HardLkr and the American asset stripper Tiger#2 Gang Who Can't Shoot Straight, sadly.

Canberra lounge stated as temporarily closed implies that it will reopen, surely they would have left it off the list otherwise?

Or not in the same list as CNS/DRW/MKY at the very least...

This whole virgin lounge situation is a pathetic joke. What is the point of them opening only Brisbane, for 6 days a week no less

MEL and SYD lounges reopening on 15 December:
NO more 11am bar opening:

Barista-made coffee, premium tea and soft drinks served from the hosted bar, as well as alcoholic beverages including craft beers and curated wines from 12pm.

I have flights MEL-SYD on Friday and SYD-MEL on Sunday, so not quite in time for me. But I'll be back in Jan.

In the meantime, any hints on what's open for eating and drinking at SYD T2 (mostly airside) or MEL T3 (or T2 or T4 landside)?

With the VIC/NSW border open and flights resuming, MEL and SYD lounges should already be open

Syd T2 - I haven't been there for 4 weeks, but at the time it was limited to 1 or 2 of the cafes and Pie Face. Majority of outlets were closed. Hopefully they are reopening and people are getting back to work. In T3 (QF) there was 1 cafe and Mad Mex and that's it... but to be fair with 12 departures a day, they couldn't justify any more.

Thanks. Hopefully there will be a few more decent things open given the increase in traffic, including maybe something with food credit redeemable through Priority Pass.

Was in the BNE lounge last Sunday morning.

Limited food options (bowl of muesli or a muffin) but at least the coffee bar was in full swing.
