The EU published an updated list of Airlines and Countries they feel are a risk to Air Safety
Annex A is a list of completely banned airlines while B is a restricted list

No great surprises on that list.
Mostly airlines from nations that likely have no formally (properly) structured and regulated aviation industries, including maintenance regimes.

Of course Russia is on the list for (completely valid) political reasons. Aeroflot, Rossiya and Nord Wind seem to still have business flying to Asia, but not west into Europe! A quick look on FR24 shows plenty of Aeroflot flights to BKK and HKT in particular.

There used to be plenty of flying to Cyprus but none planned in the next 48 hours that I could see so that’s one outcome from the restrictions list. However there are a suspiciously significant number of flights from Yerevan (EVN) to LCA and PFO. And plenty of traffic from Russia to EVN, so I guess it’s just become a transit hub to get around the restrictions.

Certainly some operators one has never heard before, Busy Bee Congo Airlines sounds like a winner. 😂

How I rate those youtuber travel people: how many airlines they’ve reviewed from this list!

Sam ‘corporate shill’ Chui - zero stars
Noel ‘whinging pom’ whatever his name is - 1 star. If he hasn’t already flown Air Koryo you just know he would.

No wonder no news:

Russia nationalised a number of leased Boeing and Airbus aircraft, doesn’t report how it is now servicing those aircraft and is unable to deal with the OEMs.
Sounds safety related to me.
