I just received a notification from Qantas regarding an updated time for my BA flight. The time difference is minimal.

Suppose I don't accept and choose to cancel my award booking. Will I have to pay the award cancellation fee? I am unsure if 'There is no charge associated with this change' refer to free cancellation.

"Your flight booking may have been disrupted. Accept, change or cancel your new flight arrangements if these options are offered. There is no charge associated with this change, although note that charges may apply to any further changes or cancellations depending on your fare type."

You would not normally need to pay any cancellation fee since the Qantas System sees it is a schedule change significant enough for those options to be offerred.

When I go to manually cancel an international award booking, I currently see the following before I can proceed:

Thank you serfty. I received a confirmation screen with "if you are cancelling your booking due to a disruption caused by Qantas, we will refund the value..." Technically it's by BA. Guess I will wait and see...

Is this because the ticket was booked before 30/09 and free cancellation until 31/12?

hmmm...I booked mine on the 18/10. It's a bit confusing tbh. I mean why offer the option to accept when there's a penalty to decline?

Booked this week. It's was a QFF award on AA metal. I actually have cancelled as better options showed up Friday.

(I am in the habit of keeping a record of each step by printing the web pages to PDF files or taking screen shots when undertaking such activity.)

It depends on if you actually want to travel on the booking.

Did you take any action after receiving the notification?

I just read through those conditions on their website, Serfty. I could not see any mention of "up to 24 hours" prior to departure. Do you think that means we can cancel any time prior to departure and incur only 6000 points or even zero for a full classic reward?

That's because there is no 24hour cancellation clause for Award flight redemption bookings.

Yes.

See 14.7.4 [generally] and 14.7.4(f) [specifically] of the T&C's.

Ok perfect thanks Serfty. I have a booking for tomorrow, that is looking a bit unlikely but I am still hopeful. It used to be 24 hours though I think?

Also, since posting that question, I just rang Qantas, and was promptly put through to a helpful agent whom also confirmed the above. On my asking his whereabouts he said he was in Akl.
