Slight dumbing down of the beverages in the lounge. Thomson whisky has gone from the Rye & Barley to:
Still quite nice. Fortunately Will and Andy managed to smuggle me the last half bottle (over two stays in December) of Rye & Barley so I did OK.
Staff are outstanding. The hotel feels to me to be a lot less pretentious than before. Valuing repeat customers and showing genuine concern - bringing tea to me in my room when I was a bit under the weather etc. Also received an email this week from the EL team checking that I am OK and not caught up in the bushfires. Quite exceptional.
It's pricey and has some flaws, but is now my go-to in Auckland.
