Hello,

I have put a request on QF to upgrade from Y to J.
Can any one out there who can help me with expert flyer or other tool to see if they have over sold economy or not and what are the chances of getting an upgrade

To HKG (assuming not to LHR)

F2 A1 P0 J7 C4 D3 I2 U0 W0 R0 T0 Z0 Y3 B0 H0 K0 M0 L0 V0 S0 N0 Q0 O0 G0 X0 E0

Thanks for the quick reply

I am not sure how to read into this

I am only going to HKG

Can you please let me know in plain English?

Two seats in first, 7 left in biz and possibly 3 in Y, although I suspect they are selling J as Y. In short the plane will be full, your chances of an upgrade would be better if it said J9 however QF yield management may have already looked at the upgrades pending and decided to allocate some J inventory to upgrades to sell more Y.

Thats the info being given to a North American seller of tickets, the actual load details and seats free is not generally available although we do get inside knowledge from time to time.

Hi I have that flight as having 9 available J seats and 2 in Y. Depending on your QF status you have a reasonable chance of your upgrade coming through. With only 2 Y seats left this flight provides a possible op-up oppurtunity for WP members btu nothing is guaranteed. I find when J is light and Y is full an op-up is a high chance but not guaranteed.

I am SG. Do you think i can get OP upgrade? I was thinking to take a punt by canceling my upgrade request and hope they give me a upgrade at check-in. Is that heared off?

Your best (and arguably only) chance of an upgrade is to leave the points upgrade request in! Note that Qantas Platinum's will be upgraded before you.

I take it you have ticked the fall back position of Prem Eco.

I have PE as fall back. Currently i do have exit row seat booked. does that help or not help me getting an upgrade?

The load has changed in the last 2 days
It is now showing the following spare seats
1 spare in economy
3 spare in premium
2 spare in business
3 spare in first

Looks like economy is almost full. From your experienced what are the chances of me getting upgraded at the gate/check-in?

Still a lottery!!!!!

Sorry about the Cats though, good time to be be leaving one thinks.......

Have a safe trip.

I am sure we will be back in the next match. I know rest would have been good for the players. But i reckon we will bounce back very strongly....

You reckon it still a lottery.... Do you think Y is overbooked?

I would say Y is overbooked as they would factor in a 'no show' factor. I can only see 1 seat for sale.

I take it you have a decent ticket class and SG?

get to the airport early, be discreet and very pleasant!!!!!!

Normally they say that try to be at airpot as late as you can rather than early to get a op-up. Also on my way back on QF30 i am booked on B class. Can you access EF or some other tool to see what the load is. I am returing on 10th

sorry i dont have access to EF at present, others may assist here.

Maybe an QF insider could advise - late or early to the airport on a 'full' flight' with an UGR in play? Maybe there is no hard and fast rule?

Won't matter if you're there 5hrs or 30min before the flight departs. Upgrades will be done only based on status and fare class. At the moment, there are many WP's and CL's above the SG's, so no chance really of getting an free upgrade (op-up).
