Hi all, Looking for upgrade options SYD to BNE in upcoming Jan

Ticket purchased from Air NZ which included AKL to SYD, NZ numbered and operated flight.

SYD to BNE also on the same ticket, ticketed as NZ1716. which is a QF operated flight (QF516).

Have enough QF points to do the upgrade from Y to J. sadly no status with QF.

But because its a NZ ticketed flight number (NZ1716), QF site does not allow points upgrade. No luck with contact center either (tried twice)

Is there any other ways to do points upgrade anyone can think of? Cheers

This is correct, you can only upgrade flights via Classic Upgrade Reward" if they are marketed by Qantas.

You might be able do a "bid now" upgrade but I'm not sure about this as they seem to be unpopular/uncommonly available.

T&C for Classic Upgrade Rewards: "^Classic Upgrade Rewards are available on Classic Flight Rewards in Economy and Premium Economy and eligible paid and confirmed Qantas domestic and international flights, with a Qantas (QF) flight number on your ticket and from time to time on codeshare flights operated by another carrier that have a QF flight number on your ticket"

The latter clause ("from time to time on codeshare flights") is interesting although not relevant to your case. I'm not sure when it ever actually occurs, that might be a remnant of some associated carriers (regional/Jetconnect/etc) that didn't use QF flight numbers at some point in the past.
Nowadays those other operators use QF flight numbers even if not officially operated by Qantas Airways, so are still eligible under the first clause.
