I'm a newbie to the Hyatt membership program and I was thinking of booking a stay at Park Hyatt Sydney (King Bed with Opera View).

I've checked their site and they only offer King Bed (30,000 points) or King Bed with Harbour view (15,000 points + Cash)

What are my chances if I was to redeem points plus cash on King Bed with Harbour View and request to upgrade (with cash) the room with Opera View.

Is this allowed or should I simply book the room with cash outright? I'd prefer with cash + points option since Hyatt is currently offering 40% bonus points.

What the cash component?

Do you have any WoH status?

If no status and you know of a Globalist, they can spend 30000 WoH points on your behalf with a "Guest of Honor" booking and your stay then comes with all the perks of being Globalist.

There are reports on FlyerTalk of people being offered the opportunity to pay cash to upgrade to a better room but the cost is not going to be cheap which may mean it's going to be better to pay cash outright.

Before you buy points, make sure there is P+C availability on your date.

The cash component for harbour view is $550.

For those who have stayed before, does the harbour view give you guaranteed view of the harbour bridge? Or is it worth paying more to get the view of the opera house?

All good. I manage to score 20% off from flight centre click frenzy deal for the Opera view room.
