Upgrade question [QF3 to Hawaii]

Re: Qantas upgrade question

I have lounge access already sorted through Qantas Club, Amex lounge in Sydney (if we have time) and either Veloce or Priority Pass in HNL.

if you are traveling J you get access to the international business lounge, even if the J is just an upgrade.

Cool, that's the same one as I would get with Qantas Club correct (in Sydney)? I'm actually thinking I might check out the Amex lounge...I hear it's nice

It is, QP = Int J Lounge.

Enjoy the flight, :)

Re: Qantas upgrade question

Quick question - not that I need it, but in terms of baggage, as a Qantas Club member I get an additional bag, does this carry through on Hawaiian airlines since Qantas is the international flight?

Are the HA flights on the same ticket as your QF flights? You should get a minimum two bags each as it should specify 2 pieces against the HA sectors however I would ask HA while you're over there if they recognise extra elite baggage allowance of other airlines namely QF when HA interline the bags to QF ie 3 pieces.

Also, would we have gotten more bags with upgraded J or do we still get Y baggage? More for education for next time, we don't need that much stuff!

Thanks

AFAIK pax who are QF PS or above get 3 pieces of checked luggage pp in Y or J. I don't think if you're in J you get 4 pieces pp but I haven't put it to the test.....yet.

I would ask the QF staff at HNL Airport when you checkin on the return flight if you get 4 pcs or not.

Yes, but in J those bags can way up to 32kg each whereas in Y only 23kg each. Also to/from the US the extra allowance for status or QANTAS Club is only for QF marketed and operated flights. See Checked Baggage Allowance | Qantas

Re: Qantas upgrade question

flew to Hawaii in May, beware that the QF lounge is 1 floor lower with no lift, and catering is poor to say the least....they had instant noodles in the lounge!
on the plus side, i managed to win the Qantas upgrade lottery both ways, especially pleased on the way back as there was only 2 empty seats showing on ExpertFlyer 1 week out :)

That lounge has been well documented as consistently poor.
