I have requested an upgrade from Y+ to J on a flight last week.

In my booking I had a message stating "Note: An upgrade to Business is requested. Status of upgrade will be shown 5 hours before departure."

4hrs prior to the flight, this message was still there. I was just wondering if this message is supposed to change to something like "Your upgrade as been declined" or something to give me an indication of the status of my request.

Also if I check-in at the last minute, do I still get a chance of a last minute upgrade if a seat becomes available or this is usually done before this last 5hrs prior to the flight.

I thought QF sent an email a while ago stating that they would improve upgrade experience.... I did not find the experience very interesting so far!

I find this a little hard to follow . It seems the flight was last week - or was the request made last week for a flight that is now <4h away?

I think the message about the status being shown at 5h is a general guide only. I'm not aware that they post a 'declined' message. My experience is that you know you've got it when points vanish from your account.

They do definitely post a declined message IIRC, the reason that this has not happened is that upgrades are continued to be processed up until as late as possible. The 5 hour message hasn't changed on the MMB page but the processing has.
I got a text message in a taxi 3 hours prior to dep from LHR notifying an upgrade.

Yes sorry it wasn't very clear. This occurred for a flight last week. I have another request this week and wanted to find out about the process.

Gonna keep checking my points until I see them vanish!
