Upgrade with AA Business to AA First - New Fare Class?

I have been offered an upgrade from Business to First on AA - SYD to LAX for $775US. Is it worth it?? Also if I do, do I get the QF status for First (with AA) or remain at the Business earn rate?

Any help or experience would be appreciated.

Whether it's worth it is fairly relative but for $1000, to me, it's borderline. AA's J is pretty decent and other than the seat I'm not sure you're really getting $1k worth of value. You'll already have First lounge access and you won't earn at the First rate (ie. you'll earn at the originally booked rate - J). So, no. I'd probably give it a miss for that cost.

Had a silmilar offer at booking and got SC at first class earn 18 months ago.
Helped me to SG.

Thanks for the information. I have left it and will go J class and think I'll survive!! I did a look at the QF status difference between J and F and with the se i recent reduction, it's just not worth it....
