UpgradeMe pricing and success

On the Expert Flyer website it has all the seats open other than those occupied, on the VAustralia site it has it as only having limited seats available. I chose to sit in the seat I like the best even though it has mixed reviews. I figure I will just keep checking the website until I go and see if anything opens up in front. If it doesnt and on the day of the flight after we take off I will just move to the seat I like best. Thank you for your responses did I mention how awesome this site is.

If I were you, I'd phone the GCC and tell them your upgrade bid was successful and can they help you select the best seat? There's no harm in asking. Nothing ventured, nothing gained...

Question, on expert flyer it shows that there 15 seats taken in Premium economy ( one of them is mine ) when I changed my seat from row 31 to row 14 the change was almost instant on Expert Flyer but the V Australia site shows that there is only 6 seats or so left. As I understand it row 14 is not so good in terms of seat recline and would like to change to one of the ones that are blocked out rather than changing my seating to a row of four and sharing with another passenger. Will these blocked out seats come up as available before the flight leaves or is it something that is always blocked out and saved for full fare passengers.

Ideally I would like to try for row 11 what do you think my chances are of that.

Row 14 is my favourite choice in PE so wouldn't be too concerned if you can't change it. The recline is ample and I am 183cms. Enjoy your flight...

Is your Silver number in the Booking?

If so, maybe call and ask for seat selection (as there are two of you I suggest row 11 if you can get it) - unless you are "vertically challenged", row 10 is not very good for leg room.

I tried calling the customer service center as I don't know what the GCC is and unfortunately row 11 is still reserved. She said to try upon check in to see if the row becomes available. Twas worth a shot though.

GCC = Guest Contact Centre (customer service centre).

Keep your eye on it and check in as early as you can. Good luck & enjoy your flight.

I'll be travelling from cns to bne with Virgin. As its all one ticket they should be able to check me in all the way. As I leave a 5.55 am and my flight to lax leaves at 11am do you think the cns check in will be able to allocate that seating or am I better off just waiting till I get to be to try the seat switch?

I do apologise for all the questions, thanks for the help.

Keep checking seat availability hourly if necessary. Expert flyer seat alerts can be useful her as well.

Awesome I will definitely do that I noticed that the load in economy is around 50% and they have opened up the row 20's seating to all.. Hopefully they will do the same with Pe soon as it is also under 50% loading.

Glad to hear you were successful. I'm flying out later in November so hopefully my bid is also successful.

What Serfty says. Expert Flyer seat alert costs 0.99c or $1.99 or something. A very good investment.

I've bid for an upgrade to Premium Economy from Y for a flight from BNE to LAX on Friday the 28th of November. Bid was for two passengers and for $540 each. I've been watching Expert Flyer and checking the available fair buckets and it has shown O7 all week until earlier today when it got as low as O2 but is now back to O7. Anyone have any idea what could be going on? Still haven't heard anything so assume my bid won't be successful which s a bit annoying given there are 22 seats in Premium Economy free and my bid was higher than many others I have seen been successful.

I suspect moopere's response (#229) upthread should help explain.

Until the plane has flown I wouldn't count chickens. Good luck with your upgrade bid, I hope you get it

Got notified of the upgrade earlier today. $540 each for two passengers, both with no status. Thought it was strange that I hadn't heard anything given there are so many spare seats in Premium Economy (24 at last count).

Just came back from Perth. Upgraded from saver economy fare to business for the minimum bid of $380. Was quite surprised as business was completely full.

I still don't know why I was successful from Saver Lite when I did the PER - SYD VA flight few months back.
Wasnt it only ever Saver and not Saver Lite that was eligible.
Would love to do SYD - AKL VA Upgrade Me or NZ One Up when refurbished SYD Koru is finished.

How much did you bid per leg? Were you successful for both legs?

Offer Range - $185 (Very Poor) - $200 (Fair) - $400 (Max)

So $380 return with code Melb-Bris offered upgrade.... So do you click upgrade to get offer? 2 emails so far seeking upgrade from Virgin.
