Hi all, I have a question about having 2 separate booking references and upgrades.

I'll be flying with my wife and infant son to Queenstown, NZ from Brisbane on economy. We're all booked on the same flights for both departure and arrival but for a couple of reasons I'm booked with my son on one booking and my wife is by herself on another. I have 2 questions:
  • Are upgrades to business class possible if I'm booked with an infant (same seat as me)?
  • If I do try to upgrade one or both of our flights to business class, how can I ensure that both of us get accepted/rejected together? Because we're on 2 separate booking references, I'd hate if one of us got upgraded but not the other. Is there some way to combine them or have a joint upgrade application?
I see a thread about this but it's from over 6 years ago so unsure if there's anything different now.

You'll need to be under the same booking to ensure you are both upgraded or not.
