US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Just had a quick look at the actual sold kits on ebay. Those around $50 get lots of bids, not sure about the other much more expensive ones. I didn't realise so many different airlines have their logos on the Rimowas. Of course, copies cannot be ruled out.

only 4 I think? and three currently... TG, LH, BR

I've found a reason to visit Saipan....The saipan marathon is on this weekend! And it's sponsored by Delta!

Might explain why accommodation wasn't exactly cheap this weekend.

Now sitting in TG F lounge at BKK just finished my massage. Going to miss this place! :(

Thankyou USDM/*A

Some OW airlines have very nice F lounges too but I can't imagine availability will be as good as TG.

I wish I had seen your post yesterday; I was there as well (between around 10:00AM to about 2:00PM).

Would have missed you by approx 60 min I reckon. Lovely overnight flight landed in sydney this morning.

Knew I was back home when I got grunted at by the customs staff. Ugh. Sydney airport never a good reflection on our great country.

Re: US Dividend Miles - post your SUCCESSFUL award bookings here.

Is it true that you can't change the routing on an existing *A booking even if you want to stick to continuing US partners such as SQ and BR? I want to change my 6 middle flights (bookended by MEL-BKK and back) because new availability has opened up and I want a different Asian stopover. BUT, they say they can't do that. They can only cancel the ticket and let me start again with OW or a US + remaining partners ticket. Not appealing. HUACA repeatedly or is this the new policy? :(

Seems to be inconsistent as always.

I had an agent who said they still had access to *A inventory as a whole so they could change old *A tickets if desired. I didn't follow through so not sure if he was pulling my leg, or if he would tell me no inventory on a non-legacy partner when it was there (confirming that you really can only use the limited *A selection left), or whether he was fair dinkum.

The only adamant fact was that a ticket cannot mix (legacy) *A and ow partners. But you knew that already ;)

To the well heeled and well travelled:

Has anyone booked the TG F "Book the cook" service? I think its available to all F pax originating anywhere in the world (or maybe just BKK?)

If so, do you just ring the Australian reservations line to place a request. ANy particular dishes to recommend?

Can just do it online is probably easiest, just don't go changing your seat request afterwards as that can affect your meal choice.

BTC can be done online and have been on all TG F flights I have been on in the past (ex-HKG, BKK, FRA, CDG)

Suggest you google Book the Cook for recommendations, we did to/from BKK but different menus (completed online). Many recommend the lobster mornay so this is #1 choice but a sizeable no recommend against and suggest one of the Thai meals. I had lobster but not mornay (dont actually like cheese on my lobster) and Prawn Choo Chee, both were good.

I actually like that for breakfast, book it for dinner on the post midnight departure ex SIN and then ask for it before arrival. Worked a treat last time even if I got some odd looks, and sure beat the hell out of anything QF called Breakfast in J, cafe or not. Might get the option to try it at the end of month on the A380 into SYD, hope I do.

U can do it online, sometimes the website is down

Yes, neglected to mention the website can be very flakey but keep trying and it will work.

Just tried to buy USDM, but response was that my membership was not eligible to purchase miles.

Does anyone know whether this is because I only joined USDM 2 days ago, or have Australians been cut out of the current purchase offer (max purchase 50,000 + 100% bonus)?

Accounts must be 13 days old to purchase miles. (ie open for 12 days and you can buy on the 13th day)

this requirement is stated in the terms and conditions for the purchase of miles.

just wait till day 13 and try again :)
