US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Lucky it was a two minute buggy ride - I've had ones much longer when arriving at the end of some way out pier. I wouldn't want to have to walk it in a hurry.

The buggy is a nice VIP treatment but I have to admit it was the thing that impressed me the least in the whole TG F experience.
I like walking, especially after a long flight but I hate queues and that's why I was more impressed by the service I got in FRA where the TG rep walked with me to the transit security check, said a few words in German to the staff there, cut the queue, laptop stayed in the bag, belt and shoes stayed on.

You are free to decline the buggy and make your own way.

I would hope there was no special (reduced) security because of an escort. I can't remember what i did with my laptop in FRA, but there is no requirement to take off many types of shoes, or belts (the only place they come off as standard is in the USA)

At KL last week there were signs specifically stating that laptops could / should stay in bags...not sure what they think they're doing differently...certainly no one was watching the screens as the items passed through the scanner!

Security check can be a PITA in some German airports and the experience was much better in this case while security was not compromised in any way.
A few hours later in BKK no priority for security check, laptop, belt and shoes all had to come off.

also Kangol... Moet is served as well as Mumm.

I'm surprised you enjoyed the buggy ride so much, I found the 2 minutes ride to the transit area completely unnecessary. It's probably more practical to bypass the queues when leaving the terminal.
They also have some good spirits in the F lounge like Royal Salute and Hennessy XO.

Awesome, thanks. I think I have a ~12 hour BKK transit (F-F) in Jan so I may head to the city...

I hope TG will still offer F to SYD in Jan.

Not looking likely. I spoke to someone at TG and they were fairly sure the changes would go ahead but that at least TG476 would be operated by a 77W with new J.

It will still be a lottery in J with their frequent aircraft changes.

Pretty standard with Thai no suprises. I was downgraded on TG471 bkk-syd from a 3 class to a 2 class bird and now the possibilty syd-bkk on TG476. Looks like J all the way oh well. Is TG476 confirmed?

Not confirmed yet but I suspect it all will be within a few days.

grrrr ... phantom availability

seems all of QF, BA and JL are returning incomplete results.

JL was not showing CX flights HKG-SFO/LAX correctly (showing no availability in F, but USDM could see them as could QF/BA).

QF/BA are showing incomplete/inaccurate CX availability MEL-HKG (USDM could not see outbound flights at all, but could see the return flights no problem).

It doesn't appear that JL is the definitive guide for availability.

indeed! I'd forgotten about awardtravlr!!

i think the message out of my call to USDM tonight is not to be put off if JL isn't showing award space. JL showed a total of 1 F seat on CX available over a whole week from HKG to LAX. QF/BA showed 10 or so. USDM could see what QF/BA did.

Just to be clear, did you book and ticket the JL flight(s) that were showing on QF/BA but not on JL?

there are no JL flights in the itinerary, this concerns CX availability, which JL is incomplete in showing. The seats are in hold pending confirmation i am going.

Whoops, typo I meant CX flights being displayed...
I was gonna say even if USDM can see the flights (but can't book and ticket them), then we'd still have to default to the JL search engine....
