US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Call Thai's phone centre in Bangkok, it is open 24/7.

If you want to get this resolved now you could call TG in Bangkok (use a calling card or skype) and ask them to have a look and see what's happened. If they can see the first and last legs, ask them to read you the ticket number they have against those flights.

Thank you so much travelislife and MEL_Traveller.I just phoned Thai in Bangkok (using my keepcalling.com account - 1.4c/min).
The lady could see both flights and gave me the ticket numbers for both passengers. Whew!
AFF members are truly amazing :).

One more question - I presume it would be best to now phone US Airways and advise them that all is ok?

Great to hear. I would get a print out of your itinerary off checkmytrip showing it as fully ticketed. Another thing that might be good to check is do the Saudi trick. Which is to go here: Saudi Airlines > Welcome to Saudi Arabian Airlines and navigate to 'Manage Bookings'. Then enter your ticket number (make sure you do it with your ticket number and not PNR) and surname. It will open up your e-ticket. It should have all the segments listed and under Status should say 'Paid'.

Amazing information!
Yes, all segments on both tickets show the status as being paid.
Thanks for your assistance.

The Saudi site will only allow 13 numbers to be entered for the ticket my US Air tickets are 14 numbers. What is the trick to use this site?

I am not sure, I have never had that problem. 037 needs to go in the first box and then the remainder of the numbers of ticket in the second box,

To the wise heads here. I seek your advice.
My wife and I are considering a trip to Mexico next year (July 2015) with a stopover in USA.
I have 125000 USDM and 230000 QFF (which is accumulating). What would be my best strategy to get 2 J return tickets? Should I look at purchasing USDM or work on getting more QFF? What airline would I likely have more success in getting seats on?? Thx in advance.

Hi guys,
I know searching for awards in OW is a pain compared to the good old *A. I wonder what people use these days? QF, BA, and JL? What about KVS and tools of that ilk? Any hints, insights, etc would be welcome.

Thanks.

Anyone know how to get a US Airways booking up on the CX site? CX only likes e-tickets beginning with 160 and 043.

With another booking with CX flights on it, the CX PNR seemed to correspond to the Amadeus reference (i.e. the same one used with QF and BA). If you have that, plug that into CX's website rather than the e-ticket number.

If you don't have it, you'll need to call US DM to obtain the reference for CX (or another Amadeus airline on your booking). If not, try calling Cathay directly on whatever support number and see if they can give you the booking reference corresponding to an e-ticket number (issued by another airline; emphasise if need be that the other airline will not give you the CX reference) or corresponding to other information, e.g. full name, flight number, date, class, etc..

Your US Airways record locator should have a corresponding CX PNR at the top of the page (in Manage My Booking on the USAir website)
if it doesn't, plug your etickets number into the Saudia website and it will reveal the CX PNR there

and the easiest thing is to call CX and tell them "I'm such and such flying with you on such and such day, my flight number is... Can you please tell me the PNR" and they will give it to you on the phone

These are often blank...I know my recent CX booking shows nothing...however I asked the agent for it at the time of booking and she gave me the CX/Amadeus reference.

I don't see any PNR's on Saudia. There is a 'booking reference' field...but it's blank.

That's where my USAir eticket would show the operating airline (CX) PNR....not sure why yours doesn't have anything in there

My USDM bookings haven't shown the CX PNR - I've had to call CX for it each time.

Doesn't surprise me, USAir IT is awful. One booking that I've got with them still has a MH PNR attached to whereas this was only a speculative sector that never got ticketed. And it's 4 months after ticketing...

I was given the PNR by US Airways - however when entering the PNR into CX's website it wouldn't recongise it. Then i realised that USDM concatenate the first and second names - so once I did that I got straight through.

Just a query with the 335 day rule. Does that rule apply to all legs of a booking. Say I wanted to book LHR-Per. The LHR->HKG leg was 335 days, but the hkg ->per leg was 336 - do I simply have to wait the extra day?

Secondly - is the 335 the time of departure or the time in america? As an extreme examples - I want to book a 00:05 flight out of SYD 335 days from now. However that date is actually 336 days forward in america ... Is that ticketable? or again wait the day?

You will need to wait until the final leg is done, that is when the 335 days is counted. As your example above hong kong-perth, its when the final leg of your journey that counts. Don't forget you can do a dummy booking for the return leg e.g. Perth to Hong Kong at around 330 (I think its 330 and not 335) and put in a dummy for the return. When the 330 days then come up for the return leg you can call up and then change the return dummy booking. This will cost you $150 change fee.

I'm not sure about the time whether it's american time or Australian time. I do know that I did call a few times and they keep telling me that the tickets weren't open yet and i thought that they should of been, so i am guessing it's american time and date. Someone else here might be able to shed a bit more light on this.

Remember that you can Skype US air therefore it won't cost much to keep calling/skyping to see if the tickets are open yet

Thanks - Yep already have a booking and willing to wear the $150 fee.

I'm actually looking at changing the itinerary quite substantially but still with an open jaw and still with the same city pairs.

I'm trying to use the 24 hour rule to best advantage - getting in dinners/catch ups with friends all over the world as I work my way to london and back.

Plus if I play my cards right I'll get to experience some great lounges as well as the a380, a350, 777 and 787 (fingers crossed)
