US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Don't appreciate this comment at all. Borderline offensive
Wow. Now I see your problem. Don't work yourself up so much.
The original comment by KVS was a humerous comment about first class travel being nice but not a necessity and, similarly, KVS wraps up a bunch of search tools across various airlines and alliances that make it somewhat neater and more efficient to search. It was self-explanatory and a bit of a joke, but you took it literally and persisted as such.

It is neater and more efficient to use than separate numerous airlines sites but not the only tool in the market. You may or may not use it but please don't make any assumptions about people you don't know saying "still not getting it". It does not sound nice and merely an assumption on your part

the post could have been interpreted either way... including that without KVS you may not get to fly first class.

i think for a potential customer trying to decide if they wish to purchase a subscription or not, it was relevant to point out the distinction.

Hi k974 just a heads up when searching for cx flights on the KVS tool its best to use the JL method for cx flights as often when searching using cx you will find seats that only the Marco Polo (cx frequent flyers) can book
Ps don't bother trying to use it on a Mac it won't work
I actually found it hard finding any f flights out of oz there was a comment earlier about getting f flights on Qantas, these were hard to come by

Another thing to be aware of, is that JL can give different results depending on whether your JMB account is registered in Oceania, Europe, Americas etc...so who knows what the US agent will actually see!

CX availability can also be cross checked on BA and QF so if all 3 sources match up your are probably looking good!

Didn't know that! Good thing I have US, AU & Japan accounts (no, it wasn't intentional ).

For someone who didn't appreciate that comment originally & suggested it was "borderline offensive" why would you say it yourself?? It doesn't give a good impression.

Some people have more knowledge than others & some people need a little more hand holding. Sometimes it's hard to interpret what people are saying & the intent through written word because you can't see their expressions.

At the end of the day everyone is here to help each other to achieve the same goal. So let's all help each other.

It works fine on my Mac. You just need to learn a little about CrossOver!

I use it under VMware. But having said that, a native Mac version would be sweet, and I cannot see why it is too difficult to port. Unless, of course, at the start they decided to stick with "advanced" windows-only technologies such as .Net...

Indeed, as noted in the KVS Tool User Guide, the [Awards/JL-OneWorld] Engine is most authoritative for CX Partner Award Availability:

Indeed, CX does vary its partner Award Availability by POS.

so who knows what the US agent will actually see!
You can expect the US DM main call centres to use POS US.

The POS for your JL MB account is shown in the KVS Tool results as follows:

[KVS Tool 7.7.4/Diamond - Awards/JL-OneWorld/US]
Code:
HKG Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok Intl HK [VHHH]
NYC New York Metro NY US = JFK LGA
SAT 07 Feb 2015

Carrier Flight From Depart To Arrive A/C St Award Availability
--------- ------ ---- -------- ---- -------- --- -- ------------------
CX 830 HKG 09:35 JFK 12:10 77W 0 FS0 CS0 YS0
CX 840 HKG 16:25 JFK 19:15 77W 0 FS0 CS0 YS4
CX 890 HKG 18:20 EWR 21:00 77W 0 CS4 YS4
CX 846 HKG 19:45 JFK 22:25 77W 0 FS0 CS1 YS4
CX 888 HKG 01:00 JFK 06:00 77W 1 FS0 CS0 YS0
CX 838 HKG 16:20 YVR 11:45 77W 0 FS/ CS0 YS0
 -> CX     888     YVR   21:50     JFK   06:00 +1  77W  0   FS0  CS0  YS0

CX availability can also be cross checked on BA and QF so if all 3 sources match up your are probably looking good!

Results displayed via the [Awards/JL-OneWorld] Method should not, generally, be cross-checked with less accurate data sources.

Could you please clarify what "trial period" are you referring to?[/QUOTE]

Cross over gives you a 14/15 day trial period after that you have to purchase their product. So it worked during the trial period but then I didn't want to pay around $90 for the cross over software when I've already paid for my diamond KVS tool. The information on your user guide is not very helpful for Mac users

Why not make a Mac version??

It is neither feasible, nor necessary. As noted previously, Apple users are able to run the KVS Tool on their Macs, should they wish to do so.

Thanks for confirming.

but then I didn't want to pay around $90 for the cross over software

A basic CrossOver Mac license has a one-time cost of $40 USD and there are also other Mac solutions available, some of which are free:

The information on your user guide is not very helpful for Mac users

If you have any specific suggestions in that regard, please do let us know.

It is neither feasible, nor necessary uh??

I'm Mac user have been for 20+ years I don't want this add on SW or windoze,

+1

Macs are becoming more and more popular, especially in Australia. How it is "not feasible" - I don't know

I'd recon 80% of our friends now have Apple gear of some sort, the largest selling computers world wide, yet KVS can't make or don't want to make it Mac friendly, beats me too.
