US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

At the moment I have SYD-BKK-FCO-VIE-HAM (destination) - ZRH-BKK-SYD. I am now thinking: SYD-BKK-FCO-VIE-HAM (stop over) - xx_ - LAX (destination) - xx_ - SYD. Is this a non-starter?

Would be worth finding out MPM as that is going to dictate what route you can take..... keeping in mind the LH restriction, it will make getting to LAX hard(er) than it should be, but still doable if you can find something on UA.

Thanks for your help. I did search on ANA but could not find anything along the lines of the itinerary I described above. I was/am hoping a few kind souls my come up with innovative routes... fingers crossed...

By definition of wanting to change to AUS-US-AUS (via Europe) you do have to change the outbound flight, as the outbound flight will be all the way to the US.

Right; I'm with you now. I should have phrased my question more clearly, sorry about that.

Unfortunately I don't have access to MPM figures, although I think there's a spreadsheet laying around which would show you SYD-LAX?

I think you may need to head into Europe through another port and just pay for your own sidetrip to HAM.....

Happy to do that...

What dates in/out are you looking for? (apologies if already posted up-thread)

Leaving SYD/MEL on 19 April, and leaving HAM on 26 June. I am flexible by a couple of days each side of these dates (I have a nested itinerary in between).

I just made a SYD LHR retun flight in J. Out bound is TG with BR back to BKK (stopover) then TG to SYDNEY.

When I used lifemiles last year I was able to punch in the PNR (US airways confirmation code) to checkmytrip and get the corresponding info for my TG and OZ flights, but this time it doesn't seem to be working.

Should I be worried, or do I just need to call TG and BR directly to select seats etc?

Lifemiles or dividend miles? you have posted in Dividend but refer to a lifemiles PNR?

US Airways does not use Amadeus so the booking will not be found on CMT.

Happy to do that...

ATH or IST will do it. otherwise as I posted in my earlier thread, Europe becomes the defualt destination. If Europe is your destination you cannot stop in the USA because travel to or from Europe is not allowed via the USA.

You essentially need to completely change your ticket so that the USA becomes the destination. Greatcirclemapper will assist you.

According to the rule you cannot stop in LAX no matter how you construct the ticket, although as always, YMMV.

To select seats you will need to email or call Thai. If you get the Thai PNR you should be able to punch this in to CMT and it should come up as they now use Amadeus.

Call the Thai Australia office during office hours - I'm almost on first name terms with the guy there I've called to allocate seats so many time! I'd recommend upstairs on the 747 towards the front - very private and peaceful.

is there an indicator as to what may be the absolute last date to book a star alliance award with USDM? Is it going to be 7th of January or 1st of March when they 'exit' star alliance? Have taken advantage of the purchase bonus and will wait to see if I like the GUM trip before I book another one... Would be great to know how long we have to do such bookings...

of course they will let us know :)

but combined with periods of bad winter weather in the usa and the potential influx for a lot of people trying to redeem awards, it might be a good idea to lock in availability while it's still fairly easy.
