US Dividend Miles - Award Booking Questions and General Discussion

Hi all,

Found the following route with J availability throughout on united.com (want to use USDM to book it)... I wanted to know if it will exceed the MPM as I have no experience with it...

MEL-BKK-FRA-TXL

ZAG-ZRH-FRA-BKK-MEL

It's obviously an open-jaw booking and have found the 2 seats that I need but strangely I can't see the flights on Lifemiles for some reason?

You said you want to book on USDM... but you're looking for the flights on Lifemiles? Which one is it?

If USDM, good luck.. as it looks like you have some LH flights in there. I don't think MPM will be an issue on this routing.

It's USDM but can also use Lifemiles if required. I use united.com to search for availability and then call USDM to book. the LH flight is only a regional J product which I believe is available with USDM (I booked another itinerary for late 2014 which also has LH J MUC-CTA, and it was not a problem).

I have two questions:

1) is the MPM going to be a problem?
2) Why can't I find the same flights on Lifemiles? (I can understand why I can't find the return leg because its a mixed cabin and LM doesn't support that)

Without even checking I can tell you there will be no MPM issues.

How are you searching LM - each sector individually?

As for LH...the issue are not product related...you may still run into issues on a domestic or short haul EU flight.

With LH it's not the route that is the issue. There's a blanket issue with booking LH on anything other than Wednesdays & Saturdays. If you manage to get any booking with LH, basically consider it pot luck.

In regards to #2, no idea .. never used LM!

I am searching with LM one leg at a time, so I put MEL as Original and TXL as destination and can't see anything. Maybe because the flight I found FRA-TXL is on LH J? Didn't think LM had the same problem with LH J as USDM however.

I assumed intra-europe LH J or domestic LH J was not a problem as I was able to book 4 seats on their A321 intra-europe with no questions asked, also those flights are on a Sunday not on wed/saturday...

OK...LifeMiles has issues with subsidiaries...for a long time and possibly still they are unable to see or book LH cityline. So if that is the flight you are talking about it's probably the reason.

I don't believe that is a subsidiary flight... or is it?

The MEL-BKK-FRA flights are on TG...

zainman - just call USDM :)

Just called USDM.. the agent was able to see the LH J flight on the outbound FRA-TXL but when I fed her the flights for the return leg, she immediately picked up on ZAG-ZRH as "back-tracking" and said it is against the "rules"...

Have I stumbled upon a particularly smart agent or will others pick up on this also? HUACA?

that is not considered a back-track of any significance. Call again.

Q for the gurus

How far ahead could we expect to see TG award seats?

333 or 354 days ?

Thanks

I'm wondering exactly the same thing at the moment. I can see seats up to 25/10/2014 which is 323 days out.

Well this is interesting. Could be able to burn on AAwards pretty soon.

The actual mechanics of how that will work will be interesting to find out.

Suppoesdly there is an email that went out overnight (I haven't got it yet) but a few more details here:
