ideally i'd like to be able to stay in bkk either on the way over or the way back

Can you do an open jaw ( it hink that's what it's called)

If I fly on TG I could do SYD - ICN and then on the way back do TPE - BKK - SYD

no. Only one stopover OR open jaw allowed. So stopping in BKK would only be possible if you bought a ticket to ICN or TPE only (not both)

damn

such a shame they don't do O/W awards like a lot of other carriers.

It sounds like I'll have to hope I can get TG J to either ICN or TPE and then do a return Y flight between them with a stop over on the way home

I shared last month until I reached 80 k, this all came through just logged out and logged back in and now shows it's 70 K Wat the ??? I didn't go over the 50

don't know. sounds strange. what was the sharing chain to get to 80K? (starting balance and share amounts?)

starting balance was 20 k i think share 3 times to same person and vice versa. 10k, 30k,10k. all went through and showed 80 k each until i logged back in and both now show 70k.

Did you check your points balance activity on Dividend Miles? Might give a clue why the discrepancy.

On paper, seems all kosher here.

the MAX bonus you can get is 50K. So you started with 20, add 50 = 70.

But the bonus received was only 40k - the other 20k of points was part of the 'original' points transferred (which then generated a bonus of 40k).

then if you started with 20 and got a max bonus of 40 as you say - the balance should only be 60K.

It doesn't work out to 80 either way you look at it.

They said they shared 10, 30 and 10K - each shared and vv. 10+30+10 = 50K = 50K bonus total.

original 20K plus 50K bonus = 70K

(my caluculations - start with 20, share out 10 = 10. Receive 20 = 30. Share out 30 = 0. receive 60. Share out 10 = 50. Receive 20 = 70).

Ah OK I read it that the other account was just another account not being built up, in which case if the balance of the second account lmere12 shared with didn't matter than it would've been simple to get 80k in lmere12's account.

Yep with only 100k points between the two accounts to make bonuses the best that can be done is 70k apiece.

In which case, no idea why lmere12 got a fleeting reference to 80k balance, unless it was a misread (or slip in addition).

Also, not sure why so many transfers required (assuming that both accounts started with 20k to begin with, the 70k each could've been achieved in 4 transactions in total).

i didn't share 20.. balance was 20.

i shared 10 , 30 and 10.... there was definitely 80 k sitting in those accounts

What were the starting balances in each of the two accounts (yours and the other account)?

Were you trying to achieve 80k in both accounts, or just your account?

starting balance on both was 20 k. uumm thinking US must've made an error somehow originally to show 80 k.. maybe the share came through before they deducted the 10 k on the last share. I had seen the 80k and assumed that was the right amount then logged back in and seen 70.

* Definitely 80 k showed on log in, but I think the last 10 k must've came out after the share came through and I assumed what I seen was the result & I feel like a twit that I didn't do the maths prior*

* Because we only originally wanted another 10k to maybe upgrade existing flight to First, then thinking what a good deal we did the then 30 then had to do it again with the remaining 10 for the bonus

I think you got that bit right - the last 10K didn't come out before the other bonus posted! Anyways - all solved now :)

I thought I'd read that us/united had opened up a heap of direct J/F flights Au to USA. Is that still the case? What's the best way to find them? Still ana? I had a quick look and didn't see much availability for sep/oct next year (looking to book around Xmas next year but trying to gather info early) Mel lax.

Thanks. I use it as we'll but it just uses ana (and maybe some others) as the backend. I was wondering if us airways could see more united availability than ana shows?
