US Global Entry Program for Australian citizens [from 2025]

It looks like Global Entry is finally here for Australian passports!

From Jan 2025, with a cap of 1000 applicants for the first phase.

To apply you must have visited the US more than 5 times in 2024.

No date yet announced to expand beyond that initial intake.

Thinking about this, if MPC continues to undergo a reliable implementation, GE may become redundant anyway. I could save that USD100.
TSA Precheck is worth having though. I possibly get more value from Precheck than I do from Global Entry on the times I’m doing a lot of domestic flights while over there. Really depends how busy the arrivals area is and if I’m travelling with SWMBO or work colleagues who do not have GE.

While in the interim MPC is effective n efficient for avoiding long airport que, GE with TSA is worth paying for the convenience of US international n domestic air-travels as airport que keeps getting longer n longer n longer...

Can't wait to be able to use one of the many, many, many GE credits I have on my US cards. Sooner the better.

Maybe I just got lucky but never had to wait more than 15 mins in security line for around 10 flights this year. Mixture of large and smaller airports too.

This is amazing news.
Does a transit through the USA count as one of the five visits?

So, this becomes available next year - does anyone know where to apply?

I wonder how they determine the first 1,000 applicants. I'm guessing first come, first served ?

Australia's participation in the Global Entry program will occur in two stages, with 1,000 frequent travellers able to apply from January 2025.

They'll need to have travelled to the US at least five times in the previous 12 months.
I can't imagine this is a huge pool of people.

Being in the states on holiday right now, I can't think of anyone who'd willingly visit more than once or twice in 12months unless for work or rich.

I'd say meals have the same number as we do back home, but it's USD - and often thats before I add taxes and tips.

There is no "transit" without entry to the US. So every international arrival/departure is an entry/exit. You can find your exact number of entries for the last 10 years here: I94 - Official Website
