US Global Entry Program for Australian citizens [from 2025]

I received the invitation to complete the background check already which was quick. However when trying to submit the application there is an error, no doubt due to the $0 amount and the process failing (Home Affairs website).

Submitted the Global Entry application and paid via the DHS website around 7pm this evening and received the background check email at 10pm.

I got the error also. I sent them an email.

Thanks for the update
Any updates for you?

I wonder what the process is and whether they consider entry to the US via ex-AU verses other origins. I recall reading the last bit where it said your application won't get proceed if the Australian Government doesn't confirm that you've visited the US 5 times in the past calendar year. My 5 visits have been a mix of AU and UK so I'm not sure if that's considered.

Or perhaps it's the variety of countries I visited that's holding it up.... (no Cuba/Iran/Iraq/NK/etc)

It’s 5 arrivals by the US CBP website. As much as the Australian website lists a bunch of options for proving the five trips, the actual application insists on a website printout of your i94 history.

I don't recall needing to provide this but I'm assuming this is a verification that will be undertaken by CBP/GE?

Im in an interesting situation, I have just barely reached 5 trips to the US - however it is across both my Australian and Irish Passports, will let the forum knows what happens including if its rejected.
ie. Will my application be on hold per the GEP notice or will it be cancelled

Really curious but looking forward to it

It would be 5 under your Australian passport. Unless somehow your Irish passport entries are combined with your Australian entries when searching i94 reports with your Australian passport.

If you don’t meet this I expect your application will be paused until phase 2. I hope for your sake they don’t deny your application and keep the US$120.

Will be interesting, there was a note after applying for CBP that in the event that you do not meet the criteria - the application will be halted until Stage 2 but yeah we will see.

Thanks for the update

Just an update that I've received my background check email.

It was a page of the Australian vetting application.

Thank you for your help. I'm running into the same issue as all of you with the payment issue. Did you contact/provide feedback via the webform or was there a separate email?

Thanks for the update and glad you received the background request email. Alas I am still waiting for mine.

I will have no issue with the 5 trips - CBP will show me entering more than 10 times. I just need to get the background request from the Aussies…..

The verification is done on the Australian end, the CBP couldnt care less for how many times you have entered into the US as the prerequisite is handled on the Australian end. You will be asked to provide a screenshot of your i94 obtainable through the link provided and I would think that the Australians would verify it themselves or just approve it based off the screenshot.

Once Home Affairs satisfies both the travel quantity and the background check, you'll get the green light and CBP will take it from there to finalise your application and schedule an interview.

Yep I know all that thanks - I have had global entry under my UK passport and so been through the process before.

I just need the email from the Aussies asking me to complete the background check……
