Im thinking about heading to the states in January, preferably the 1 week through to the third, can anyone suggest how I can go about going booking the flights. I'll have around 200K points and open to the cash component. Would love to fly J or F if possible.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. Need to be in Dallas by week 2

At such short notice like Jan. you'll have to call up, doubt any seats would be available, usually have to book up to a year out.

There is a thread on here about booking J award seats, but yes you may have to call up if they are scarce as hen's teeth at that time of year...

Yes I'm familiar with those, more so interested in any specific routes which may prove to be more rewarding....

Rewarding in terms of personal experience or FF rewards?

If you need to go to Dallas I guess you need to weigh up a stopover in LAX (hmmmm...) or flying direct to DFW (that is a long flight but okay if you are in J or F I guess). Maybe call up and check the availability - that could help you with your decision.

Just to clarify, are you talking about January 2012 or 2013?

Have you tried an any seat award to NRT and straight award NRT-DFW on AA?

Just checked on AA and there is little sAAver award availability in Y NRT-DFW in January so probably QF have little availability on AA.At least half the days have business sAAver at 50K points or F sAAver at 62.5K points-great for those that have bought AA miles. And that was using Mrsdrron's account-she has no AA status now.

Im lost.... How do I find those?

Either or mate, jan 2012 it is...

Just keen to do the trip in comfort but can only find F flights for over 1 milli points

You could fly out on the NYE ;)

JASA SYD-DFW for 112,000 + $430 taxes.

I also see 3 Jan ex-SYD to LAX on QF11 in First.
Just be aware that Qantas WP's often see greater award availability than NB - especially in a premium cabin. Best way to check is to use an NB account.

Longrass, what QFF status do you have?

For AA you just go to aa.com.Click on Aadvantage, then redeem miles.you dont have to log in to see what is available.if a sAAver award is available then generally QF will hve award availability in my experience-however often have to ring to get it.
I also just tried QFF on line-I am silver now,and it is showing up most of the NRT-DFW awards on AA but about 30% of the AA dates missing-these are classic awards. But 1 J award is 240000 return and 2 Y awards are the same for return awards ie 240000

Silver at present...

If you are looking at gaining more FF points and SC's, maybe look at flying via NRT or AKL.

Sure have/am, trying a myriad of different routing options

My post above was me looking with my silver status just putting in SYD-DFW and using flexible dates.Surprised me the amount of availability but most used a routing via NRT at least in one direction.

How many points required?.

on QFF SYD-DFW-NRT-SYD or vice versa Y was 120000 return,J 240000 return.
On aadvantage I can fly SYD-NRT-DFW-NRT-SYD with the SYD-NRT in J with QF and the NRT-DFW in AA F for 215000 return, with less taxe setc.
An aadvantage One world award in J is 150000 for this routing but you would need 1 QF and 1 JAL sector.
