I'm currently organising a trip to the States in July with a few friends. I plan on using my FF points and my mates are just looking for a cheap option. There is a big price difference between June and July!

10th June-24th June (MEL-LAX-MEL) $1,300 approx. with V Australia.
10th July-24th July (MEL-LAX-MEL) $2,037 approx. with V Australia.

We cannot go in June because one of my friends has work commitments so July is the only option at this stage. It wouldn't be my friends first option, but they may have to look at China Southern!

I understand July is going to be busy so I'm doubtful of any specials coming out. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

School holiday periods are high season and it is full on summer in the US so it will be a bit more expensive in most places.

Exactly. It is high season of pricing and peak travel for the US so all carriers are going to be similar - there won't be 'sale fares' around these times, this is where airlines make thier money.

Looks like my friend might have to take 'one for the team' and let the rest of us go in June!

Thanks for the feedback.
