So I can just show my international ticket to get 2 bags on a airline partner plane?

My ticket to Santiago Chile flying Lan Chile but booked through Qantas allows me 2 bags + carry on, and some of my flights with Lan around Sth America say 1 bag and others say 2 - depending on fare class.

Most likely not. You will probably need to go with whatever the ticket states on checked in bags. Normally they put down that during a trip the most restrictive fare wins.

It depends upon rules of the airline you are checking in with.

And, of course, is certainly the case with Qantas.
