Use your Amex at Aust Post to pay bills

Well I've been checking my utility providers and it seems most of them accept AMEX. :D

Electricity - Red Energy (no mention of surcharge)
Mobile phone/landline/broadband - Optus (1% surcharge)
VOIP - Engin (no mention of surcharge)

Boo to Yarra Valley Water. However the moment our lease is up end of year, we fully intend to move back down across the river and the water company I used there accepts AMEX (South East Water).

Don't know about my rent, as nothing is said on the rent card ("Quick Rent" anyone?? i don't know if they'd even accept CC payment at all) - but my real estate agent said that Aust post "will take whatever credit card it accepts." Otherwise there's always that rental rewards site.

And Uni only seems to take VI and MC. :(

Gotta look through the other half's bills some time to find out what transactions he could "delegate." :p

Finally... for billers who don't accept AMEX, could I simply buy a bank cheque with AMEX and pay the biller that instead? Like, would I earn points for the purchase of that cheque or will it be counted as a cash advance?

Aim is to get enough points for some VS flights, preferably ex-LHR so I can use the uber cool VSCH at T3, in UC for DONE suspension/resumption purposes by end of year/early next year as the BMI gravy train is slowly coming to an end.
