Does anyone know if it's possible to get a digital image of their Velocity Frequent Flyer Card into their iphone's wallet? I know you can use the VFF app to bring up an image of your membership card but it's relying on you having internet access at the time you need to present it.

Later this year I'll be traveling when my current Platinum membership card expires and won't have access to the new one but obviously I'll have the digital one via the app. The query I have is that if I turn up at the EY first class lounge at AUH and I'm asked to present my membership card will a digital version of it be acceptable. I can't remember if EY print on their boarding passes your VFF status when checking in at LHR.

I'd be interested to know this as well, as I'll be in the same situation when travelling in the US in March/April - I fly out a week after my review date (I've requalified) so of course the new card won't arrive before I leave and the current card expires whilst I'm away. Flying Delta for the US domestic legs, so I assume my status will be on my boarding pass, but would still be helpful to know re the digital VFF card.

Your VFF status is shown on your DL boarding pass (including electronic, which I just checked).

A screenshot is the easiest way, and if anywhere accepts electronic cards they will accept a screenshot.

I would take something. Last month I was in the US and for the first time ever the DL lounges (BOS, MSP and DTW) asked for my card. They print that you are VA platinum on the boarding ticket but that doesn't seem to be enough. The issue seems to be the number for them to enter into their system when you enter the lounge. The boarding passes used to have the number, but now they are in the format *******1234.

I think it is just the number they need though, as once that's in it seems to be automatic. Not sure what they've done that it isn't automatic anymore (maybe I've just been on a 2 year lucky string where they didn't ask).

I was in the same situation when stuck in the US for a few months and couldn't get the new card. VA sent through a letter notifying of my status with the expiry date for the new status that I printed out and took with me. Worked well in conjunction with my expired card.

Are we saying the virtual card in the App is not enough ?

I have used the card in the app before without drama.. YMMV

You need Internet. That's the issue for the original poster. Of course you also need an iPhone.

I have had an issue before where my status came up as silver (I checked in online before status review) not gold so I showed them the digital card and they check-in lady was reluctant to accept it and spent 5 minutes checking the number matched on the BP that said silver.... This was on a VA flight number, VA metal and at the BNE priority check-in... I would not like to see how partner staff deal with the digital cards when VAs own staff struggle

You can actually access your card on the iphone app without an internet connection.

I have done this to access the MSP lounge while flying DL.

You can test it yourself, if you select flight mode ( or turn off wifi and data ) and still open the VFF app.

It should say no network found and give you the option of "settings" or "continue offline". If you continue offline, you can still select your digital card.

As I say, I have only used this on one occasion, " offline" but it worked fine for me.

Just tried offline and it works, the barcode changes and scans '(null)' instead of the usual 'L1<lastname>/<firstname> <title> VA <velocity number> [SLV, GLD or PLT]<numbers of unknown meaning>'
