We have 33,000 pts each of which 12,000 will expire in June 2010.Will not be travelling o/seas this year, but would like to use those 12,000 x 2 pts on hotel etc if possible, or are they transferrable to any other F/F program.(we have membership with Malaysian airlines,Thai airlines & Qantas f/f) Thanks.

No. You can only redeem on flights:

Redeem Miles

You can redeem a return trip to the Pacific islands (eg Fiji, Cook Islands, Tahiti), via NZ using Star Alliance Redemption Award from Australia at 25000 points at Economy, or if you top up another 2000 points, then you can fly on Business (35000 points):

Singapore Airlines

Also bear in mind that you only need to redeem the miles by June 2010, actual travel can be any time up to 330 days (IIRC) in advance of the redemption being made. A nice way to get around having to pay to extend the validity of the miles.

Thankyou Edison,Will look into your suggestion re-Fiji via Star Alliance.:p

The chart can be found as below, where you can see all the countries belong to South West Pacific:

If you are going to travel in Business, however, NZ has announced new structures for their short haul operations:

But if you travel early enough then you will still be getting the full business class seat and service from Air NZ, which I rate very highly, even on their small A320 planes.

+1 on this point also. So you can plan your flights well in advance.

Another thing, if redeeming a return ticket, you can get a free stopover in NZ as well.

Assume SQ Kris Flyer miles are due to expire in June 2010 and one uses them for a redemption in January 2011. Closer to departure the trip needs to be cancelled. Do the miles get redunded to the Kris Flyer account with a new 3 year expiry or are miles lost as they should have expired in June 2010?

My understanding is that the points go back with their original earning date.

No, the miles are lost.

13. KrisFlyer miles of completely unused award tickets may be redeposited for a fee providing the miles and the ticket are valid at the time of redepositing. Any taxes will be refunded.

But, you can change the original redemption booking for another itinerary, provided it is within the validity of the award ticket, which is 6 months for Savers and 12 months for Standard and Full awards.

11. A free award ticket may be reissued, but only for travel by the same person and provided no part of the award ticket has been utilised. Additional KrisFlyer miles may be applicable. If the new journey requires fewer KrisFlyer miles, the excess cannot be refunded. The award ticket at the point of reissue must still be valid. There will be a reissue fee for each ticket. The reissued ticket must have the same expiry date as the original ticket and it must be for the same airline. However, if the date of the first flight on the reissued ticket is earlier than that of the original ticket, then the expiry date of the reissued ticket will be readjusted to the earlier date accordingly.
