Thanks everyone.

@serfty - I've just locked those two seats in. Appreciate the heads up.

@simongr - I've already placed my QF FF number into the booking and it doesn't allow me to amend. Do I need to call to amend? If I do amend, are you sure that I'll be able to change at check-in?

There is actually a way to modify it online if you don't want to call... I'll try now and let you know how once I jog my own memory! :)

EDIT: Go to http://www.finnair.com, and select the 'My Booking' tab in the centre window area. Enter your surname and booking reference, and it will show your Qantas booking (as both airlines use the same reservation systems). Then on the next screen, click 'Update your details', and you can then change your Frequent Flyer number between your CX and QF numbers ;) Repeat as needed, though for changes after check-in, it's always best to see ground staff and get a new boarding pass with your updated FF number on it. :)

Re: Qantas - SYD - SCL - 747-400 - Refurbished?

Thanks heaps! :)

Do you know if I'll lose my seat preferences if I change my FF number back to my QF Number?

If there is a way to change it online, I guess I could change it back to QF and see what happens...

Re: Qantas - SYD - SCL - 747-400 - Refurbished?

Not sure - I only have one Oneworld FF account, but you can always try... if the seat has already been confirmed, then the seating *should* stay the same. If it does cancel your seat selection, I suppose you could always change it back and just change the FF number over at the airport. :)

I bet it will cancel owing to the block, best to leave it and get the FF number changed at check in.

If I change at check-in, it may cancel my return flight seat preferences. However, at least that way I get one way in Upper Deck and earn QF miles/status. Would be great if seat preferences are not deleted !

Thanks for that ChrisCh. Just tried this with FinAir and received the following error:

[h=1]Please note.[/h]

  • We are unable to confirm the fare for the flights you have selected. Please try again. (9102)

Any idea why that would happen?

Qantas - SYD - SCL - 747-400 - Refurbished?

Not sure TBH! The trick has also worked on another airline site - my feeling is that it might be Iberia (definitely not CX, AA, BA, or S7), but I can't check that at the moment. Worth a try perhaps! :)

Went on OneWorld website and tried every airline. Success with Royal Jordanian. FF number updated back to QF and front row seats in Upper Deck still confirmed.

@ChrisCh - you're a legend and I owe you one ! :p

Good result, you owe somebody else one......that's what we're here for.

Qantas - SYD - SCL - 747-400 - Refurbished?

I would continue to check to make sure it doesn't slip. I would also check the QF website to see what number is listed there and be sure to check your boarding pass.

Re: Qantas - SYD - SCL - 747-400 - Refurbished?

Tip: Assuming you are travelling on an Aussie passport, on arrival at Scl, make sure you queue up to pay the reciprocal US$95 fee BEFORE you queue up for immigration;)

Most definitely will ensure to periodically check my reserved seats. I've got a month, hoping they will stick !

Haha, most definitely, almost made this error when I was in SCL a few years back

Thank you everyone for being so very helpful !

Re: Qantas - SYD - SCL - 747-400 - Refurbished?

Glad you've worked it all out! I believe the RJ or IB website is also good for seat selection on 'certain' other (non-QF) flights too ;)

I had a booking earlier in the year that involved QF to Sydney, TG to Bangkok, RJ to Amman, then some Turkish flights and return on TG and QF. The RJ website would let me 'choose' flights on the QF, TG and TK flights however at the confirmation stage the TG and TK flights would error out saying they couldn't be confirmed.

Given that RJ is part of OW, I assume it will only allow you to select seats on respective OW airlines. the later you mentioned are *Alliance...

Me thinks you have read my post as a standalone post without getting the context of my reply through the quote from the post I was replying to. You should really read in full context before replying. If you did read in full context you would see that I know full well that RJ is OneWorld, however the post I was replying to said that RJ (or IB) were good for selection of other (non OneWorld) carriers. I was just conveying my experience which is that RJ will let you select and see vacant seats but those selections do not stick.

It wasn't a question it was a reply to someone else. Whilst of course you may have been trying to lend a hand you really need to understand the context a post was written in before replying to that post. This is done by either reading any text from a previous post that may have been quoted, which is what I did or by reading several posts before the one you are replying to. It is clear through your reply that you read my post as a standalone post and then jumped in wel out of context.

I understood that your post was a comment and not a question, however given that from your post it seemed your QF flight was able to be selected and just not the TG and TK I was just stating a possibility. I still don't understand your hash wording towards myself merely trying to help. A response stating that I may have misunderstood would have sufficed :-)
