Hi all,

I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade a friends flight with Singapore (SYD-LHR) using my Velocity points. We are not travelling together. Looking at bump from premium economy to business.

Is this possible considering the challenges of it's for someone else and different airline to points program?

Thanks.

You cant use Velocity points to upgrade from or to SQ, it's just not allowed.

cheers

You can transfer your Velocity points to Krisflyer (SQ). Then it is possible to nominate someone else and give them the ability to redeem your SQ points. So there may be a convoluted way to do it. I don't know the details of the Krisflyer program. You might try that forum.

This should be possible and shouldn't be too difficult, but only if it was booked through SQ. Call the call centre with your friend first and confirm it's able to be done and seat availability, then transfer the points and nominate them whilst you're on the phone. The points transfer across to SQ instantly from VA and it's also instant to add a nominee in your SQ profile online.
