Great trip report I loved my travels through the ‘Stans but as someone else said I would highly recommend Iran as I think it was even more amazing.

@RooFlyer and I did Iran on an Exodus tour and we are doing the 5 Stans in August with Exodus. I've done other Exodus tours (can highly recommend their Madagascar and Sudan offerings) and Intrepid tours and I've enjoyed all of them.

Basically, they play in the same space. Exodus is a British company, but has an office in Melbourne, while Intrepid is a bigger Australian company with global reach. I think G Adventures is Canadian and also operates similarly to Exodus and Intrepid.

Peregrine is in the Intrepid Group and pitches a little more upmarket.

Thanks HB for this great trip report. After watching Joanna Lumley's Silk Road series, I've developed a real interest in this part of the world and your TR seems like a great introduction to the ‘Stans. Definitely going to look into this further.

It will be interesting to see what colour the lake is , apparently it changes different times of the year, we had bright blue and looked great. Don’t forget you boys go up to the ritz Carlton for drink for the view , pricey for Kazakhstan but the views are worth it
