White body and red tail.... how bloody original.

Yea not original, clearly trying to pick up on the QF brand presence in the US.

But excluding the copy-cat factor I don't mind it - just looks like a QF and AN 747 had a baby!!

Was at the boeing factory yesterday in Everett WA, and saw the 777 on the Payne Field tarnac opposite the factory, awaiting testing. It looked really good in the flesh

Of course VB has another connotation in Australia. Perhaps an association with drunks doesn't befit an airline

My thoughts exactly - mind you I dont know what beer they serve on board DJ - maybe it's only Fosters ;)

Hi there

Crown Lager, Victoria Bitter or Cascade Premium Light are the beers served on Virgin Blue.

Cheers

Are you kidding? Do you think we request routes that we can't actually fly just for the fun of it? ETOPS rules are changing pretty quickly - to the point where the term ETOPS is being removed from the lexicon.
crazydave98,

This may be the case but it doesn't mean that there will be acceptance. I for one would not accept ETOPS for this type of trip.

Interestingly I've had this discussion earlier this evening with several Boeing and Airbus Captains and they agree. ;)

Because you've got:

Virgin Atlantic - VS
Virgin America - VX
Virgin Nigeria - VK
V Australia - VA
and then Virgin Blue - DJ

Is it just luck of the draw with the IATA codes or do the airlines get some choice or preference?
Well V Aust and Virgin Blue certainly ruined a trend. If they tried for VT, VC or even got VB then they could all have been models of Commodore

There is plenty to choose from:

  • First generation (1978–1988)
    • 1.1 VB
    • 1.2 VC
    • 1.3 VH
    • 1.4 VK
    • 1.5 VL
    2 Second generation (1988–1997)
    • 2.1 VN
    • 2.2 VP
    • 2.3 VR
    • 2.4 VS
    3 Third generation (1997–2006)
    • 3.1 VT
    • 3.2 VX
    • 3.3 VY
    • 3.4 VZ
  • 4 Fourth generation (2006–present)
    • 4.1 VE
