V Australia Emergency Rejected Take off at LAX

On 13 April, V Australia’s flight VA02 from Los Angeles to Sydney was in the early stages of its take off run when as a precautionary measure the pilot chose to return to the terminal due to an issue with the performance of the left engine.
Engineers are currently inspecting the status of the engine to determine the cause. This process may result in further time after testing to complete any repairs or maintenance that mat be required.
Guests who are abroad have been provided overnight Hotel Accommodation in Los Angeles for the evening of the 13 April, at no cost to the guest. Local guests who need to go home and return next day will have the cost of their transport re-imbursed.
To get people on their way to Sydney as fast as possible, V Australia is in the process of sourcing seats for guests on other carriers. We are doing everything we can to accommodate guests on Thursday. Should additional nights of accommodation be required, these will be at V Australia's cost

I wonder if this would make headlines, like it would with QF...

It is definatly much harder for VA to deal with an aircraft out of service, I'm sure they'll find a way.

Good to see VA seem to have better processes in place now to handle the affected PAX.

When they were reversing their planes into things, there were lots of reports of the airline not knowing how to handle the situation, and PAX being stuck in LA...

Yep - They are learning and in-time will be a great airline! Chartering/leasing/whatevering a Air NZ 744 is a great way to keep customers happy. A very similar product and probably at a good price for DJ as NZ would no doubt be giving "mates rates" or "owners rates"

As much as I dismiss DJs decisions about the on-going tidbits of information about their new domestic product, I support them fully and fly them as much as possible!

You mean problems happen to other airlines? I am shocked!

Funny that it did take the news sources a long time to pick up the story - if it were QF, it would have been the main story all day yesterday.
