As a relatively newly minted gold member, I'm happy to have any expansion of lounge access by any Virgin Group airline. Unlike another airline which is closing/reducing/restricting the use of lounges, even where they exist.
Virgin Blue has done quite well from a standing start - i would imagine that it's not always easy or cheap to secure space in International terminals to build lounges, nor particularly cost effective when V Australia was bleeding cash. Negotiating a deal with Air NZ is a good outcome, and I expect more on this front as the Tasman Alliance comes to fruition.
