Bonus Points will be applied to the base Points only. Any applicable tier bonus earned will not attract Bonus points as a result of this offer.

Basically for WP it would be 4x base points credited, that's including the 100% bonus.

(Base miles x3) + (WP bonus (Base miles x1)) = Total

Thats a bit sneaky imo. Last time they did double points it was definitely doubled after the tier multiplier was applied. Ie. as SG i recieved 2 x 1.75 for 3.5x base points.

Having a look at recent Double/Triple/Double offers I have never had my tier bonus doubled. Just base fare. Maybe some got lucky with the patchy Virgin IT system!

You dont have to book through the virgin site do you? Save some hassle (and money) by booking through a 3rd party!

The T&Cs say "Flights can be booked via Virgin Australia website or your preferred travel agent."

(I beg to differ - I've been trying to book flights on VA's website and can't!)

I have MEL-LAX-MEL flights booked for next week on Freedom fares (VA Plat) - is it worth cancelling and re-booking to take advantage of the triple points? what's the likely $ cost?

Yes not to mention that using any promo codes invalidates the cashback so it is not worth even using!

Actually last time i tried it the codes wouldnt even work if you had been redirected from cashrewards.

Quick question regarding triple points and possible earn for SYD-LAX flight in PE. I believe standard earn rate for this is 1.25 Velocity points per mile, so this would then become 3.75 points per mile once tripled. Add 100% bonus of base points (another 1.25 points/mile) then I believe this should mean a multiplier of 5 (3.75 + 1.25) per mile flown. Given SYD-LAX-SYD is 7495 + 7495 = 14990, does that equate to a total points earn of 74950 (14990 x 5) for this flight? In comparison, regular economy would only nett 29980 points? Trying to figure out which flight will give me a better return on points before booking (obviously greater SC earn on PE too)

Your calculations sound correct to me.

IMHO booking premium economy is a no-brainer here (considering also the higher SC earn, greater comfort, lower cost of possibly upgrading to J, etc.)

Yup. Thats what i did, only mistake i made was just now checking the prices to see they've come down $200 in the last 3 days. Oh well.

I successfully activated the promo, then booked same day...flew on 1st April - Elevate fare.

They say to allow 4 weeks so maybe the bonus points will be there tomorrow...but I have my doubts!

So I emailed velocity and requetsed credit of the bonus points...that was done manually today. I'm guessing a fair chance they might post again at some point later!?

Called up last week, since it was more than 28 days after i'd flown the applicable flights. VFF could see i activated the offer then booked the flights, so it was esculated, and that id be called back. True to their word. VFF called back and the missing x3 points were credited.
Just a pain to have to follow up with these promotions, as most wont keep track and forget all about them!
