VA 777 - New Business Class rollout [Delayed until 2016]

Just made a booking for the 15th of April for LAX-SYD on VA and the seat map is showing the new config 1-2-1. Oh happy days :)

That's fantastic. Such a good seat for those 12 hour flights.

Fingers crossed you don't get any subs.

There are quite a few posters who are flying out to LAX around the same time as I am and others who are flying back to SYD/BNE at about the same time who are seeing the new layout.

Alas, I find myself still seemingly stuck on the old product (admittedly in row 5 at least)!

Perhaps I can buy a Hover Board and engineer some sort of storm on social media to get this first world problem appropriately addressed? :-)

The common thread here seems to be that the upgraded 777s are being used for the SYD-LAX and LAX-SYD runs. BNE-LAX and LAX-BNE runs are all showing the old cabin layout at this time for flights in April and May.

Any info on when VA7/8 might be upgraded? I am flying in September.

Doh I just spotted this in the other thread.

Just to provide another data point.

We are flying VA1 on the 2nd April, old seating :( but returning VA2 on the 29th April with the new seats. PE on the way out but we upgraded to J on the way back, really looking forwards to the trip now.

Checked for my potential dates later this year Oct/Nov and it had 1-2-1 seating showing - cheering!

Any update on timing?

I have just looked at VA1 and VA2 in mid - late March and it's old layout showing.

Does anyone have a thought on which will be the best seats in this new configuration?

So it's happening.
Was on VA7 yesterday from BNE-LAX and my seat mate was from Virgin and was going over to oversee the 777 refit.
Turns out it was the final flight before being sent to the maintenence facility. ( btw 4 toilets were not working so I'll guess they were going to fix it during the refit)
Seems the refit will take around 40 days per plane so we should see this one back in late March.
According to flight tracker it repositioned to Lake Charles this afternoon -

Can't wait to see these when they are done

Wow, what a lucky seat selection. I didn't realise the refits were being done in the US. Weren't the A330s done in SIN?

VH-VPD disappeared from the VA Source flight tracker on Feb 24 after flying the VA7 to LA. So it would appear to be the first 777 to get the new layout! Anyone clever enough or with inside info about when it will reappear? Been 2 weeks now.

The answer is in this thread only a few posts ago.

Late March it will be back. Refurbs approx 40 days.

I'm expect all 5 wont be complete until September.
