VA A330's almost completely gone from PER-BNE/SYD/MEL during June '17?

There price differientation between business on the 737 and The business on the A330 is only $100.00 ($1799 compare to $1899)

They really need to have a much different price on the 2 products.

Just checking a flight from Brisbane to Perth and back.

Pricing now seems much better, have they been reading our thread.

Perth to Brisbane is now $999.00

Brisbane to Perth is $1399.00

Outside of last minute break downs etc, how long before a flight is an aircraft type locked in?

I booked a reward flight in J on VA469 (PER-BNE) for November. It chose this flight because it was an A330. A while later I got the email where they told me might flight time had changed 10 minutes. As it turned out this was because of an aircraft change. I logged in and selected new seats, because none were allocated automatically. I just logged in to my account to check my booking as my forward journey is happening soon. My booking is now appearing twice and it's again showing as an A330 with my 2 seats allocated as 5A and 5D. I'm travelling with my mum, and it would be preferrable to sit with her, but it probably doesn't matter a whole lot. My only concern is that if they swap it back to a 737 again, 5A and 5D aren't in business class at all. For some reason it's also showing that I have 2 bookings on the same flight. Both are showing as VA469 but they're showing as Flight 1 and Flight 2.

I know that that's a long way away, but this flight and the forward journey are actually positioning flights for overseas travel with another airline (with a very long stopover between them)

Interesting, looks liek all the A330's will be removed from domestic!
"Virgin Australia will reveal a next generation of its domestic business class seats before the end of this year as the airline continues to battle Qantas for the hearts and wallets of corporate travellers. The seats will be dedicated to transcontinental flights running between Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth, but will be fitted to single-aisle jets as Virgin shifts its larger Airbus A330s onto Asian routes into Hong Kong and mainland China."

Revealed before the end of this year ... but how long to implementation? Another 6 months to a year?

Honestly, despite initial excitement, I think most of us here are well and truly over the VA 738 J experience. A year and half ago I took my Mrs on her first VA J 738 trip, 3.5 hours, and after that she looked me right in the eye and asked me to never do that to her again.

Over time I've come to much the same conclusion, I'd pretty much prefer to be in Y. Of course much of my opinion on this is coming as a status holder, so on ground bennies of a domestic J flight (any J flight) are already looked after.

I'll end by sighing ... the next gen of business seating had better be pretty fantastic ... because the 738 is a horrible aircraft for long trans-con flights.
