I am thinking prior to the ending of the VA and SQ "relationship" and before VA change their own point/credit system, of doing a quick bash ex Perth to a couple of places that I have never been before but all in one trip for duration period of about six days.. I'm thinking booking via SQ so that at least I know for sure I can have seat choice and possible clear ticketing Perth-Singapore- Jakarta- and then either routing back via Singapore and onward to Manila or a separate one way between Jakarta and Manila then ticketing again on SQ from Manila via Singapore back to Perth. This can be done in business for around 4,500 AUD all in biz.

Any other suggestions for destinations around the same areas that can be done in a week?

What do you mean by seat choice? I guess you will still have to pay for seat selection?
I'm led to believe that you cannot do a seat selection on SQ metal when booked as a revenue ticket on VA. I don't even think it offers you that choice. If you book through SQ and then insert your VA status it lets you choose for nothing...however I think that is the same for anyone who books through SQ. There are quite a few threads around on Australian forums about choice restrictions when booking as a VA codeshare on "partner" metal.

The only thing that's changing on the VA/SQ relationship at this stage is that they'll be no longer codesharing on SIN to Europe flights.

It's unlikely the VA/SQ partnership will be dissolving entirely at this stage, even if SQ wanted to leave themselves as VA/Bain could just cough up the $$ for a unilateral partnership/codeshare into Asia as that's basically still revenue for SQ which they could not knock back, even in the case SQ wanted to severe their connection to VA.

Remember that currently VA's relationship with SQ is simply a codeshare with revenue set by SQ and rewards bookings (plus the points transfer).

It's a very limited relationship as it's not a joint venture (which I think dissolved in 2020).

SQ has a strong Australian presence as it probably doesn't care that much about loosing the flights revenue to Europe as people would just book SQ direct which is normal. It likely has a bigger interest in having an Australian domestic airlinespartner.
