VA Cancellations, Delays growing?

I’ve also swung to ZL and JQ.

Most months the percentages are similar, but things changed at VA a few months ago, the numbers are way behind the others. That’s a VA specific issue- talk to the employees, everyone is calling in sick or resigning, I did, trying to work out what was on earth was going on, so it’s a toxic workplace, now flowing through to the OTP, that’s what the employees told me.

If you can’t run a schedule, shave it back.

I think they could well be doing that right now…our neighbours had some travel booked in a few weeks out of Brisbane into Tassie and Virgin just cancelled all their flights and moved them to different days on both the in and out bound. I’m advising them what to do 😉

Just the other day apparently Virgin had to fly an empty 737 down to LST to ferry a bunch of passengers back to the mainland after multiple cancellations (source: LST airport ops).

I know @justinbrett edit: @antycbr was joking about LST becoming a new hub for Viegin ops maybe it’s coming true 😂

Onboard VA954 at the moment...departed 80" late courtesy of unknown reasons (although weather in BNE has been poor today), then turned back to BNE after an hour in the air as SYD is closed due to storms 😑
3pm (958) and 4pm (962) BNE-SYD services were cancelled as well - and 5pm (970) is showing as delayed 30" already.
Fun times to say the least...

Is quite a few BNE-SYD and OOL-SYD’s returning back to the origin.

Just saw a video from T2, was a bus driving through creating waves, the apron heavy under water

Cabin crew said apparently CBR wasn't an option, and we'd been over CFS before the decision to head back. Pretty murky here at BNE too..

40 min delays into Sydney on the NOTAM. Probably unlikely you will make it in tonight
Departing BNE now, so ETA into SYD is looking like 2100-ish.

[Edit] it gets better - now a 20 minute delay due to ATC shortages in Brisbane 😑

You'd think old mate Minister King could look into ATC shortages.

Water is knee high in SYD.

I won't hold my breath on that getting fixed any time soon.... 😑
Thankfully we just pushed back. 1930ish out of BNE = 2200 into SYD I guess...

The whole industry needs looking into!

It should be that every stage of the journey is customer-focussed… from buying the ticket, to airport security, to schedules, to airport infrastructure, to ATC.

We pay good money, either in airfares, or airport fees and charges or government taxes, fees and charges. That needs to be invested back into getting planes running to schedule.

I don’t need a new shopping arcade at SYD domestic T2, or a new shopping arcade at international terminals. I want reliability!

But with airlines not being reliable, it means customers will spend more time at the airport shops! Win for the airport!

VA83 OOL-DPS looks like it has turned around and diverting to BNE. Those pics from SYD today are pretty wild.

Apparently Bali forecasted weather changed en route and they didn’t have the extra fuel onboard, or crew hours to drop by Darwin to re fuel.

Probably need to get the MAX on these routes pronto and wouldn’t have this issue

First batch of MAX on DPS begins from NS24. I'm assuming the 2nd round of DPS runs will be MAX'ified' from NW24/25.
