Why would it matter, they are both firmly in Zone 2:

751-1,500Miles

15
30
45
60

I have just done a mileage check BNE-HBA or LST, planning a trip with the kids over the Xmas break.
Strangely BNE-HBA came in at 1111Mi, and BNE LST at 1162Mi. Last time I checked HBA was further from BNE than LST. Anyone know what rate these routes actually pay at?

It wouldn't matter when it comes to earning rates. But if I had to guess, could it be because there is no direct BNE-LST flights, meaning you would have to go via MEL.

BNE-MEL-LST would be longer than BNE-HBA...

Maybe? I could be totally wrong, just me guess.

Fair enough, but was just wondering how mileages were worked out thats all. In this case irrelevant re SC, however, it was a general Question I guess, as to how mileages are calculated. Thats not a big ask when a port further than another is listed as closer. Dont get me wrong, Im not whinging and moaning, I just want to know how they are calculated, obviously two different methods:confused:

If there is a direct flight available they are calculated as direct.

If the flight is not direct they are calculated via the shortest indirect route.

Ok that makes sense, thanks for the explanation :)

If there is a direct flight available they are calculated as direct.

If the flight is not direct they are calculated via the shortest indirect route.

Shortest indirect route would be BNE-SYD-LST, which would add not much onto the direct flight.

It could also just be a mistake

Correct me if I am wrong. Status point earning for BNE-LST should be 10+10 since it will be BNE-MEL-LST?
Otherwise the status earning with DJ is not great compare to QF.

No, you are wrong in that assumption. DJ have clarified that the SC earning of connecting flights comprising two sectors will generate SCs as if it was a direct flight. BNE-MEL-LST is 15 SCs (Zone 2) rather than the 25 it would have been, if calculated by sectors (BNE-MEL-15 + MEL-LST-10).

I thought I understood it all but now I'm confused :!:

IN terms of SC, could you book two direct flights, ie BNE - MEL, then MEL to LST?
