How do people feel about the idea of making this song our National Anthem. I've never been enamoured by Advance Australia Fair but clearly I still call Australia home resonates with people.
Very understandable that Virgin has chosen to use it.
I love the idea. The current dirge was only proclaimed the anthem in 1984 - geeze, I even remember that year, it was basically yesterday. Let's change it now.
...and while we are waiting, just to spur the argument on, let's force all the kiddies to sing the second verse as well. That should get some traction on this issue:
When gallant Cook from Albion sailed,
To trace wide oceans o'er, True British courage bore him on,
Til he landed on our shore.
Then here he raised Old England's flag,
The standard of the brave;
"With all her faults we love her still" "Britannia rules the wave."
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia fair.
Also let's change the flag. But I digress.
One more thing: a really nice little town in New Jersey I've actually visited and of course took a selfie with the town sign - Sea Girt, New Jersey - Wikipedia ...ahhhh, so that's what it means!
Damn those white people being in a TV ad Parody... How dare a white person do anything without there being a black, yellow, red, brindle, female, gay, lesbian, transgender, bi sexual, trisexual, pansexual, queer, unsure, identifies as a lama, cough enthusiast, swinger, docker, flogger, androsexual, demisexual, gynesexual, or any other preferred sexual gender or identifying person or thing being represented
