Thanks for the report and pics. Looks and sounds good. I've never been brave enough to try VA int J. This is mainly due to the coughpy Koru lounges and also because I am a big fan of QF when they get it right. Also like the possibility of upgrading to F.
Maybe I need to get out more

i haven't done QF F, but I really liked VA J. Staff were great. Lounge isn't great but there are worse things....

will any AFF 'in flight T.R.' be deemed to be comprehensive enough without the inclusion of a detailed review of the washroom wall coverings ?

As I noted - done 3 x ret flts VA J MEL-LAX before and never noticed the wall paper - I posted pics cause it's these types of little things like this, the Opera House S & P shakers and the star in the roof which I always considered set VA apart from competitors - you could never say it looks coughpy could you?

I was so underwhelmed by my 1st QF F experience but I might have to give them another crack if I can secure seats - maybe I just got unlucky.

Back in the days when I used to fly a lot VA/DJ Dom I burned my points on J flights to LHR on VS as it was basically the only thing I could do with them.
Nice to see a good international product from VA, looks almost as nice as VS.

Departing LA is always a zoo for VA. No idea why they don't do a bit of crowd control but its the only time Ive had a bogan, Im a bogan myself, yell from the centre/rear of the pack "Oh. The lines back there, dick head" as they called for J/status boarding. Im not thrilled by the current VA seats but generally Ive found their FAs make up for the short comings. Im also not thrilled with the current outward menu, hoping it changes soon.

I've done it a few time to LA and back once.... I knew all the stuff in this trip report and as a bloke it's worth checking out the chicks toilet even been told to use it to change... Definitely more room! I probably get everything on the menu for all meals and then ask for extra food between... Starve be for I fly up front.
Yes big issue and have had to use call button and chase service during middle of flight. I have new and old staff on flights and been rotated between staff. They need to upgrade the noise cancel headset... Average.... Used my own last time.
They changed champers and not as good as old choices. This old beds were hard/worn as...

Thanks for the great TR Cruiser. I haven't flown VA J, but it's on my list for a points redemption (along with SQ suites). Love the bar! I have flown VA Y, which was fine.

I take it the Aussie wallpaper is only in the J toilets? It's things like this and the opera house salt and pepper shakers that make you feel at home!

The dropping of the direct MEL-LAX flights is really annoying. I also wish VA flew more of their own metal O/S - would much prefer that to EY metal (though I haven't flown EY).

The menu looks very similar to the VA coast to coast J service - not that there's anything wrong with that! I really enjoyed it, except the return journey on XFA/B (can't remember which).

Taking loo photos are just a part of Cruiser's affliction. Even at home he will sneak a peak on AFF because he can.
Sometimes an AFFer will be viewed by their partner as a bit of a nutcase but then that same partner comes to expect the nicest seat on the plane.
Research beats a best guess most times so getting loo photos are all part of the package.
