Does anyone have confirmation (from a boarding pass) that Q is still the booking class for Velocity Upgrade from Flexi to Business with the transition to Sabre?
I am trying to organise an upgrade for MrsDeKa and want to know what to search for in ExpertFlyer.

It's now Z for Business Awards AND Upgrades

Last Saturday had Z on the BP for both an upgrade from Flexi and for Business rewards.

Q doesn't exist for reward/upgrade bookings and is replaced by Z for Business rewards/upgrades.

Re: Rewards booking codes for DJ?

Unfortunately, as per Q previously, Z doesn't appear on EF listings. Also now have no idea what codes Amex would be using for their 'free' CC based flights.

Actually, this prompted me to use one of my stashed free flights so I just rang up Amex and asked for the booking codes. The Amex flights book into "Saver" fares and use booking codes Q, N and E.

Re: Rewards booking codes for DJ?

However, by doing a 'dummy' award booking you can now find where Z is at;)

Thank you!

Does anyone happen to know what time Virgin Yield Management update availability? I want to make sure I watch it and book the moment something becomes available.

At the moment, I'm not entirely convinced that Virgin Yield Management know when it is that they [-]break stuff[/-] update availability.. :p

Oh boy tell me about it ... if I see any of you at drinks, ask me what I spent 7 hours over the last two weeks talking to Virgin about

Re: Rewards booking codes for DJ?

Success! I watched the reward seat availability tonight, and about 9pm a seat became available for the return flight on Thursday. Called immediately, and secured it as an upgrade.
Now I'm just waiting for the outbound flight tomorrow evening ... I'll try at 7.30am when VA Gold opens :)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Re: Rewards booking codes for DJ?

Double success! The only available J class seat on the flight (this evening) became available as a reward seat at about 6am. Kept quiet, called Velocity at 7.29am (it takes one minute to dial through the menus), was the first call of the day answered by an agent in Brisbane, and secured the upgrade.

DeKa, useful to know when they release award availability! Thanks for posting!

Re: Rewards booking codes for DJ?

This just came up in another thread. Amex booked into N & E classes which are both standard Saver classes however posted as 'Not Valid for Earn'

I booked return SYD-ADL on 31 Jan using my Amex Plat Edge card free ticket entitlement. My initial flight to ADL (class N) on 1 Feb has not yet posted, but return flight to SYD (Class E) on 3 Feb is posted Not Valid For Earn, which is correct. I was hoping some points earn but oh well. At least they got that part correct.

Not sure whether this has been noted elsewhere, but I earned the full business SC & Point earn rate on a recent flexi upgrade.

(If this is to be deleted so reps don't see PM me?)

Re: Rewards booking codes for DJ?

however posted as 'Not Valid for Earn'

Yes, this is the same as prior to Sabre. One has to cancel the 'free' amex flight and rebook using the credit shell in order to get any SC's or FF points returned.

Has anyone managed to book a one-way rewards flight from a place in Europe that is not available for booking one-way online any more eg Paris to Perth through the velocity centre? I can see the dates I want if I choose it as a return booking but whenever I ring the membership centre I am told they cannot make bookings more than ten months in advance and they cannot see the dates anywhere near what I can see.

Secondly, has anyone managed to change a J reward booking since the new system - mc suggested I book fra to per online then pay $60 to change to cdg to per. Does this sound right?

Unsure of what dates you are after but I just booked a one way PAR SYD 27DEC on EY over the phone

With regards to your second question, I am unsure why you would bother booking that way when it would be easier just to call and make the booking over the phone for the route you want and save the hassle of cancel rebook

Booking for 8 jan. shows on return flights. Call centre told me this morning they cannot book any flights CDG to PER after end of November as there was nothing loaded in the system at all. Could you tell me when you were able to make your booking.
Only reason for the second question is so I don't miss getting a reward flight. Thx

Solved the problem. It's Perth that is the issue. The website is only showing rewards flights that involve Etihad - including Etihad to Perth. Virgin are using Singapore Air as their partner to Perth which only loads nine months out. The Etihad flights are a website error and can only be booked to Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane like they could in the past.
