VA Status on SQ boarding passes?

Im also WP and SQ BP from last month shows PTNR PARTNER PRIORITY.

Also never needed to show my card at checkin, lounge or boarding. Always use business class line for checkin and board when they call *A gold members

This perhaps is a slightly different topic, but I was unhappy to be denied entry to the common lounge at Mumbai (BOM) today, flying on an SQ flight number (economy) with VA Gold and "Partner Gold" properly printed on the boarding pass. They said that StarAlliance Gold would have been fine, but not this "Partner Gold." The lounge attendant even called a Singapore Airlines rep for me, who confirmed this. Why is VA Gold any different to StarAlliance Gold from the perspective of SQ? I get that they probably get charged for each lounge entry in these lounges, but can't that fee be passed on to VA? Or does it not work that way?

SQ uses a contract lounge in MUM, so it's not quite the same as Star Alliance in these situations...

Very annoying and another reason why VA just needs to hurry up and join *A already.

VA status I believe only lets you gain access to SQ run lounges and not contract lounges. I was able to status match my VA WP to NZ Airpoints earlier this year giving me *A gold as well, which has come in handy on a few occasions.

I should be Platinum soon but not sure that makes a difference with the contract lounges? Almost all of my flying has been on SQ which makes me wonder if I shouldn't have joined KrisFlyer earlier on. Thanks for the tip about matching to NZ Airpoints, will consider if I can do that. I don't like NZ for Pacific flying though (10-across 777's), so having the option to use Delta to get VA status/points is good.
