I m just wondering if anyone had any like finding reward seat for Mel-HK? Looks like impossible to book business seat by using Velocity points...

Yeah it all dried up in the last month or so.

Did you call the call centre ? I booked a little while ago and there was plenty.. But at the time you had to call to book and they waived the call centre fee

No, I'm looking at inventory directly on ExpertFlyer. When did you book?

See post #220 ..

Booked about 9 April. At the time there was virtually everyday in October available for 2 seats.. Now 6 weeks has passed since I booked and that may not be the case now.

At early to mid April, there was no online reward seats and it all had to be booked via Velocity call centre. I don't know if the process has now changed or whether there is actually no available seats.

Yeah back then it was wide open. EF and Delta both showed space. Now that is no longer the case.

I just tried looking for MEL-HKG for April/May - June is not yet open - looks like +11 months only.
There is nothing apart from any seat, 500k or so a piece - so a ridiculous price.
What's the story with these tickets ? Even via SQ there is nothing.

I'm looking and have called as well - got donut... the helpful phone operator said it was very strange and would thoroughly investigate... I won't hold my breath!

Anybody else having trouble seeing any direct VA Mel-HKG flights in December 2017? Just tried to search via their website and only options were all SQ connecting in Singapore. Tried pretty much every date across the month. Rang the GCC and the agent was surprised, agreed it was weird and confirmed she definitely had flights available. I know Business Reward seats are hard to come by, but I wasn't expecting paid economy fares to be as rare!

No trouble for me. Just did a search on Google flights and it can up as normal. Clicked the link to book with virgin and bingo, 5 flights per week on offer.

Same problem here. Went looking for 2 PAID Business fares for Feb 18 on Virgin website only codeshare with SQ listed so went over to Qantas and booked there. Virgin if you're reading this I tried to book and support you !!! One thing that the launch of Virgin on HKG has done is made the fares on the competition better.

One way I've found to get VA's attention is to Tweet them and/or post on their FB page. My experience has been you quickly get a reply! I kave also used personal messages to VA's Twitter account, gets a response very quickly.

As the new HKG service is NOT daily, on some days the direct service is obviously not available. A quick check for Feb 2018 found revenue J availability on most days when the new service actually operates.

Flights up in over a week. So significant reduction in A330s transcon from next week or was there a lot of downtime?

Nope but don't worry I'm sure it will be announced in mid 2017 like everything else will be.

My guess is T3 in Melbourne

Tried searching Y and J reward flights in Nov 2017 but no availability. Called the center to enquire and was told that seats have not been released yet.

Also checked Expertflyer on several dates, all showing 100% availability so guess I'll just have to wait?

With the recent codeshare agreement between VA & Hong Kong Airlines , its 99.9% sure that the lounge in Hong Kong will be Hong Kong Airlines " Club Bauhinia" Lounge as for the MEL Lounge , its still a big mystery with less than 2 weeks before launch ...we can only hope it's EY's Lounge.

Anyone heard whispers of which lounge in MEL and HKG ?
