Why is Virgin Samoa a separate entity?

Half owned by the Samoan Government I remember reading somewhere....

Let us not go down the path of JQ and start again all these different off-shoots like we had before: I like VA the way it is Yes though to flying to Japan...

Would there be any market for VA to actually take? SYD is (as stated) OW heavy with QF and JL, and JQ now have CNS, OOL and MEL. Perhaps they could go head to head on MEL if they're reliant on J pax? Or as a long shot PER?

I was thinking the same thing. Obviously VA have other priorities and not the right or enough equipment at the moment, but provided the Japanese economy picks up then I would think that PER-NRT or probably even BNE-NRT would be the ones to try (in an ideal world where VA have the money and equipment to do it). Getting their act together and just code sharing with ANA would also be an acceptable solution for VA, after all NH already codeshare with NZ VS HA EY and SQ so how hard can it be?

I would imagine that if VA were thinking of International expansion that somewhere in China or maybe SIN would be other possible/obvious expansion destinations.

I have always thought HND , would be a great option for VA , with a tie up with ANA as a partner .

1. Its in the centre of Tokyo , which means no long transit into the city as is with NRT . This would be attractive to business pax and help with filling the J cabin
2. Enter into a partner/codeshare agreement with ANA . ANA have HND ( as well as NRT ) as a Hub , so this could be a win / win for both airlines.
3. HND is growing with a expanded international terminal due to open in 1H 2014 , and further expansion in the lead up to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

I doubt SIN would get a look in as SQ have this well covered ex AUS. HKG maybe a look in if ever VS would ever look to pull back out of AUS and only service HKG .
